Large-Scale Habitat Project on Bull Shoals Lake

The large-scale habitat project on Bull Shoals Lake has been completed. Over the past two weeks (seven actual working days), Fisheries Division personnel (40 total) worked to replenish existing habitat sites on the lower end (Oakland to Dam) of Bull Shoals Lake. The original goal of this project was to replenish 61 sites in Howard, Big and Little Sister Creeks (marked in green on the map below). Due to the hard work of the staff, we were able to replenish those 61 sites and an additional 34 sites for a total of 95 sites. The additional sites are marked in white (Barnes Bay and Dry Run Creek), purple (Noel Creek) and yellow (Jimmie Creek). We estimated over 500 trees were used during this project to replenish the 95 sites.

Replenished sites will be updated on the AGFC Mapper after the first of the year.

Arkansas brush piles make Missouri ones look pretty pitiful .

Mojorig, very nice, those big cedars are great, but man what a pain to move/handle.

what was that huge pontoon barge that launched by the Theodosia bridge this morning?Had never seen it before. It was so big they brought it in with a heavy duty diesel rig.  I was way above the bridge and couldn't see much detail but it looked like it was at least 35' long w/ a big silver machine thing with ramps on top of it 6 or 7' high

they've been busy in MO, lots of new piles North of Pontiac in the last couple years. I really like the groups of standing cedars they put in , have caught tons of crappie off them.

That is MDC's habitat barge. It is the same design as ours. They were donated by Bass Pro Shop.

Stumps do last a long time. But they are dangerous to handle with the equipment we were using. MDC flipped their barge that is similar to ours while trying to dump some stumps.
