Ok guys new to the site and trying to figure it out. Please bare with me if I post in a wrong post or something. I tried kayak fishing for the first time last year early one morning. Took along the fly rod and two jigs. Just killing time waiting on the wife. I slayed the Blue Gill! Best time I ever had. They were big! Since then I’ve been told they spawn late May. Is there any advice on just pan fish?  Or local? Never had that much fun fishing.

Bluegill are great fun when they spawning and most other times as well☺. There is lots of panfish information in the posts on the panfish forum. Many of us like to use jigs or small lures for bluegill and other panfish, but should also be info on flies and poppers.

I think the bluegill are under utilized on TR, I know our fellow forum member @Terrierman worked on them pretty hard last spring.  He should be a help, and welcome to OA

Is this regarding table rock panfish? Or panfish in general? On table rock fish for them from  late may through the fall.  They will be on long runnout gravel points (like everything else).  Idle around watching our graph from 20-30feet.  Sometimes shallower or deeper but thats a good starting point.  They will show up right on the bottom as a long squiggly line.  Use a med light or light power spinning rod, 4lb line, and a small chunk of crawler, or a cricket (small plastics also work) with a split shot about a foot above.
