MOPanfisher Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Because neither myself nor you are likely to press charges against our spouses especially with no other witnesses. The guy at the mall can easily press charges, especially if someone else witnesses it. If your wife threatens yiu and you are afraid you most certainly have the right to call the police. Happens pretty regularly.

MOPanfisher Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 I believe there has to be a couple standards met before a threat is really a threat. It has to be some that can actually be done, so if I threaten to reach down my grandsons throat and turn him inside out, obviously it's not a concern. The person making the threat has to be capable of doing it, so if my grandson says he is gonna kick my butt it doesn't rise to the level of a viable threat. Basically it has to be believable.
Al Agnew Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Zero tolerance policies lead to some really stupid stuff, but I can't say I blame the schools for it. They feel they have to err on the side of caution and follow a set group of rules, or else they leave themselves open to lawsuits and other unpleasantness from the parents, as well as possible danger to the kids. They go overboard sometimes; we hear of kids being in serious trouble for pointing a finger at another student and saying "bang". Or drawing a picture of a gun in class. But I suspect that for every really stupid thing we hear about, there are dozens of similar things where someone in authority at the school DID use a bit of common sense and let it slide. That's a problem in itself...we only hear of the really bad or stupid actions or outcomes with just about any issue like this, we don't hear of the far more common instances where people used common sense and did the right thing. Terrierman Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Polices are policies. There has to be some judgement applied in applying any policy.
TRRANGER Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 There has to be some judgement applied This is the most insightful thing I think I have heard in all the discussions on gun laws, mental health laws, and how to fix our societal ills. Most of our society lacks this basic skill. NO judgement and No common sense. How many children are dying each year from cell phones texting and driving, yet they are not outlawed. It is simple to stop the cell phone, if the phone is moving faster than a human can walk it will not work. the technology is in the phone already. Yet we do nothing, Judgement and common sense, mass shootings are all happening in GUN Free Zones When these tragedies happen it is heard God Help Us, maybe if they let him in the door in the first place he might. We are debating and making it legal for a boy to use the girls bathroom and a girl to join the Boy Scouts, everything is ok. Smurfs say lah lah lah all day is the problem with our nation. It is ok to say no to kids, Its ok to not be good at something, everyone does not need to play, its called life. It aint fair deal with it, teach kids to deal with there problems face to face like we used to, out behind the school with a bloody lip and a black eye. It is ok to lose, you don't have to like it but you have to learn to lose to be good at winning. I learned more in my life from screwing up than I ever did from getting it right. I am 44 years old and my dad is 69 and he probably can still whoop me, and I have been bigger than my mom since I was 12 but she can tell me sit down and by god I do. Its all about respect, for your elders yourself and GOD. We seem to have forgotten the Golden Rules of Life. Actions have consequences. Laws will stop nothing, it is illegal to kill but yet it happens, it is illegal to drive 65 in a 55mph zone but it happens. it is illegal to steal and it happens. The worst punishment I ever got was the time my mother said she was disappointed in me, That hurt worse than any whippen I ever got, and I got my fair share and if I got one that I may not have deserved at the time it made up for something I got away with. Mom and dad taught me this, before you do something ask yourself this, IF mom or dad was there to watch you would you Do it anyways. Amazing how many things that kept me from doing. tho1mas and slothman 2
