We got on the water around 8 fished most of the day, throwing jigs at the bank and working the brush nothing much.

We found drifting a couple minnows worked alright but it was still just one here and one there but they were all keepers.

The area is covered in spoonbill boats.

Yes there is a k bass in the mix.

I was there too, holy crap it was a zoo.   People dragging bare hooks.   Not my cup of tea, heading to Bull Shoals to get out of it

Agreed, I think the crappie were really boat shy. I would get over a school they would instanty vanish.

I don't know what to think about the spoonbill season.

I'm glad to find out it just isn't me. I went down Thursday and although, I didn't get skunked, It was close. That was the first time I had been there in 20 plus years. And it was crazy. I guess Stockton has spoiled me in regards to a more laid back approach and environment. I think I'll head back to Stockton and Pomme. lol  But that being said, That's a beautiful area.

Bridgeport is a good place to stay away from this time of year until the end of spoonbill season anyway, that place will be busy 24/7.

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

Opening day is crazy down there, but it wilL die down in a few weeks. We snag at night early in the season for this reason.

We crappie fished Wednesday evening and thursday afternoon. Only way we caught them

was by jigging around brush piles in 20’ of water between Flat Creek and Walnut Springs . Managed 8 keepers Thursday evening and 9 on friday. Caught quite a few shorts as well. They were down around 10’ deep for the most part.
