My neighbor did that to his boat, but he can't remove the seat.  Only seems to be a problem though when we load boats. Post the pics I want to see them!

Yep. It can be a problem when loading but that's the only time it is. I've thought about using a seat mount with a pin so the seat would be removable but just never have.

Just figured out that the security settings of my hosting site were not allowing the pictures to show. I think I have that fixed.

Looking good.  Mine has a hanger that makes the seat sit lower.  No big deal either way for me.  Is that Oak wood?  I'm getting a better idea now of what I want!

No it’s just a poplar board I picked up at Lowe’s and then sealed.

They can definitely hang lower. Chief has done that in his boats but I like sitting up higher. More comfortable to me but you do lose stability.

Anything is better than Old Town butt wet plastic bucket seats. Sit backers are OK. Have one for the front seat of my Wenonah, also works with my solo canoe. It is too wide for the back seat on my Wenonah though. Have some old seat frames if anyone wants them.

If I have the time this weekend I know what my project will be!  I also will try and remember to take some pics to share.

Ok, finally done with the beast.  After much thinking and buying of parts not needed I settled on the original design, but just stronger!  Had to have a fabrication shop help me and found out bolts in 3/8" size with a low profile are hard to find out there!  Notice the material I am now using is 1/8" thick so hopefully this will last longer than the other ones!
