The problem I have with Dick's, other than they never carry much of anything I need, is their politics toward the matter.

Walmart quit selling MSR's when Sandy Hook brought them up in a lawsuit.  But they did it quietly and without fanfare.  Dicks was blatent.  You want to stop selling guns, pull them off the shelf or quit.  If you make a political statement about one type of gun, which every major manufacturer makes now, then expect backlash from the public and your suppliers.  They have a double standard as others have pointed out.

My peeve was when they upped the age to purchase above what the Federal regulation is.  The approved age to purchase ammo and firearms is set by the governing forces.  They are licensed to sell by the governing forces, but they decide to go above that law.  That is discrimination in my book if I was under the age and turned down for something the Government has entitled me to purchase, licensed them to sell, and then refused by them because of their political views.

There is the real lawsuit and a reason the ATF should pull their license to sell any firearm.

And we all know what the real problem is.  Its not about the gun.  You have to stop Crazy from killing with anything in order to keep society in order.  Crazy will find a way with anything.

I don't like any company taking a political stance on any thing. It put's their employees in a position of supporting that stance or quitting and it always alienates some fraction of the customers.  Should be a employee rights group that could sue those corporations that take a CEO's personal politics to the company policy page.

I am always astonished at the people that say " I own guns, but I want to take your guns away".  fwiw, the arms mentioned in that worthless paper called a Constitution were all military weapons. No other qualification than they be capable of military use; by a strict interpretation "sporting" arms might be regulated or prohibited.

Does that powerbait work good on goggle-eye? Ever use it for bullhead or channel cat?

Today the AR 15, and AK 47. Tomorrow the 1911, and Glock. The next day the Remington 1100 and Browning A5.

Military, full auto true assault rifles are already highly regulated, and quite expensive to own. If the AR platform is banned, those intent on harming others will just find another tool to use.

True that!

Handguns and assault style weapons are what got the ball rolling though.  Nobody that I know of used either for hunting, and nobody I truly respect does to this day.  Yet hunters are the ones most concerned about the rights to own guns being taken away.

When the AR's and the Glocks moved in.....There went the neighborhood.

You don't truly respect me?  My daughter has taken 2 bucks and son in law a doe with the 300 BLK out rifles I built.  I carried one myself last season because of softer recoil and radiation damaged shoulder. I could not take recoil of my bolt rifle.

No offence, but you either live in a sheltered world, or have an obvious lack of knowledge on the subject. I quite often hunt with handguns. Since 1972 I have hunted deer with a 44 Magnum revolver. For the past several years I have used a Thompson Center Contender handgun. I also have, and at times still do carry a 10MM Glock G20. My son that has several AR platform HUNTING rifles also has a Glock G40 in 10MM for hunting in Missouri's Alternative Methods deer season. What was formally called "muzzle loader" or "black powder" season. But now also allows centerfire handguns. Not only in Missouri is there a special season where handguns are used for deer hunting. Illinois, and many other states have a specific handgun deed hunting season.

As for the use of the AR, or any semi-automatic rifles in school shootings, the first school mass shooting was at the University of Texas in 1966. 13 killed, 31 wounded. The weapons used. Remington 700 volt action "hunting" rifle. Remington 141 "hunting" rifle. Sears model 60 "hunting" shotgun.

Maybe a few facts over liberal news media fiction on the subject could help you expand your knowledge of the subject.

"This kind of talk"? I believe I have been trying  to be nothing but respectful, and informative. I made a comment about not shopping at Dicks, and answered a question as to why. My answers have been based on fact, not political agenda driven media hype. But I will let it go at this.

I'm not saying anyone is being disrespectful.  Just saying this is usually a spot to talk fishing and help on Taney.  And I made the post to be helpful about a little fishing bait.  AND I was attempting to be funny by saying if people like to get off topic or argue at all Tablerock is the forum for that.  Cause they love to talk about tournaments and eating bass over there I promise :)
