They typically are just a single wire tapped into the brown (tail light) wire, and they ground via the trailer frame. Since they are all out I'd say your ground connection to the trailer frame is bad (white wire). Yep. Easy start.
moguy1973 Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 If you don't have running lights on your tail lights when your headlights or parking lights are on you have a bad brown wire somewhere. slothman 1 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Those grounds can certainly cause some funky behavior. - I had trailer light issues years back; similar to what you’re saying. After much troubleshooting I found that the wire harness for the trailer was not actually grounded to the trailer; thru the electrical system. The lights were trying to ground thru the trailer ball, to the truck. So, I found the white trailer ground wire; bolted it to a bare metal spot on the trailer with some dielectric grease and no problems since. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
jdmidwest Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I lost my running lights a few years ago, tube trailer. Mouse decided to chew the wires to the running lights first. Then he fed on the rest of the harness. Replaced the harness and screened the holes, but one still found the exposed running light. Ketchup Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Had this same thing this morning. I seem to do it monthly. While hooking up my trailer plug to the truck , it connects to the wrong terminal as i cant see due to darkness, and blows a fuse under the hood of my Superduty every time. Like you, everything works normal but the running lights. Replaced fuse and good til the next time i do it. Took a lot of trouble shooting the first time to figure it out. TinBoats BassClub.
