Took the wife for a short trip to the White.

Caught 3 browns and a bunch of rainbows. Caught about half on a beadhead woolly bugger drifting in the boat and the other half wading with Y2K/ruby midge combo. Fun part of drifting in the boat is that you see most of the fish coming after the fly and see them eat it. Wife caught a decent brown and got some good jumps out of him. She saw a really big brown following her fly but it turned away at the last minute. Lots of fun watching them follow the fly. Some eat.... some don't.

Here is one that ate...Sorry for the blood, but she was hooked on the top of the mouth and swam away very strong.

Man look at the spots on that fish!  Beautiful, and thanks for sharing as always!  Hopefully you can make it to jig fest with us this year?  I'd love to chase some browns with ya!

I'll plan on jig fest (if it isn't freezing).

Thanks

It’s more fun if it’s miserably cold.

Well us old guys don't do extreme cold too well. Guess it's just a matter of the circulation (or lack thereof) thing.

Great brown trout! Congrats!

About the cold, you have to love having to soak the boat and then shake it to get it unfrozen and off the trailer😁. I'll be working to get to the White for Jigfest. Would love to meet you and maybe get to fish with you. Maybe a side trip for cutthroats.

I usually don’t fish if it’s less than 20 degrees. Usually.

Dress appropriately and it’s not so bad.

It was cold this past jigfest, but nothing a good spread of walleye cheeks and massive amounts of side dishes loaded with carbs and good company couldn't overcome!  Somebody said don't come to Jigfest to fish just come for the food.  They were't lying LOL.

20 degrees is about my cutoff too... Just too hard on the hands.  I've fished in colder weather, but try to avoid the teen temps and below.
