rangerman Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 I seen two rainbows 14-18 inches long floating by my dock at Kimberling City. Both had blown out gills and both had died very recently as they still had some color to them.
dan hufferd Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 So did any one figure out why? Is it oxygen or what ?

Pretty shameful to still act like that at your advanced age. Only a few years left and you don't appear to be using them wisely. Not sure why you continually post in the TR forum since you don't ever fish it, have no reports, no experience and only get your jollies by taking periodic shots at it when you see an opportunity. Maybe just stick to the LOZ forum, although I doubt they want you over there either. You're a miserable person and that is apparent to all. This will be the last time I waste my time responding to any of your "trolling" or otherwise useless sentiments. Well you cannot hurt me with your childish tantrum. Years ago I was a Cyber Angel. Been attack by mentally disturbed people a lot worse than you are capable of. I can handle it I know how. Give you a good peace of advice. Only person your hurting with this stuff is YOU. You would be surprised what stress can do to your health. With the exception of a few who know me for real on here you are nothing but a posted baseless opinion to me. Thought you were going to ignore me once before. Then do it or ask Lilly to remove me.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 I'm really sad to read about the fish lost. The picture of the Florida beach is devastating. Learning that more have sank, and that they don't just float, really makes you see the impact. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. This thread started as informative, then quickly digressed into something else, I don't understand some of these guys?? I will be very interested to find out what is killing fish. Anyway it doesn't look like it has hurt your walleye fishing, you are doing great ! I need lessons. terryj1024, Johnsfolly and rangerman 2 1

Anyway it doesn't look like it has hurt your walleye fishing, you are doing great ! I need lessons. Dan Most likely the kill is due to DO issues. The issues in Florida IisI beleive are mostly due to heavy fertilizer run off from the water coming from the farm lands below Lake Okeechobee. Most of the water that would flush out the everglades has been diverted from going into the Everglades and may be creating the issues in Fort Meyers and Port St Lucie. Those nutrients feed the algae creating those green and red tides. That algae blocks the light going to the sea grass causing the grass to die off leading to low DO values. Then the tides themselves die off contunuing to drive down the oxygen. If the dead zone is karge enough the fish have nowhere to go. Daryk Campbell Sr, abkeenan and dan hufferd 2 1

Its a strange and wonderful rock on which we live. Not always what a man in a boat would choose first. But tough. We get what the planet gives us. As for me, I am thankful for it. Unless I am mistaken I thought this last bout of a fish kill in the gulf was a direct result of the runoff getting into the tributaries that then feed into the coastal gulf waters? The runoff carried pesticides and other chemicals that cause a algae bloom NOT typical in nature without the abundance of nitrogen, phosphorus and other properties in those crop pesticides. That man made bloom then causes issues with the water toxicity and damages it's inhabitants. Not to say that mother nature doesn't have it's own way to keep a healthy balance of the planet and it's environment, but this seems like a human causation issue. This is what I gathered from some minimal research. If I am wrong please set me straight as I am sure there are people that have lived near the gulf that have seen this happen for years and have way more knowledge on the subject than I. vernon 1
MoCarp Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Lots of rain brings organics into the bays and gulf and take up O2 with weak tides and calm winds this can cause a fish kill or sometimes a "jubilee" where many species of crab and shrimp, as well as flounder, eels, redfish, mullet, ETC will leave deeper waters and swarm—in large numbers and very high density—in a specific, shallower coastal area of the bays. I grew up on Mobile by and got to experience this a couple times filled a few octets with flounder and crabs , shrimp redfish and specs its a free for all MONKEYS? what monkeys?
176champion Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 When i lived in Florida(actually born and raised) every so many years the red tide would come in the Gulf of Mexico and kill of thousands of fish. It seemed to kill more of one type fish over the other. The fresh water lakes and such where having kill off problems due to all the housing around the lakes and such with fertilizer polluting the water and killing fish or making vegetation grow and choking out the lakes and of coarse algae growth was an issue also. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
