I only concern myself with channel location on Lake O when the channel depth is less than 30' deep.

Thanks for the video.  I think I'll go to Stockton and have a look around tomorrow.  Keeping to the channel should eliminate a bunch of water.

I spent about 3 hours driving around looking for shad along the river channels, long points, bluffs, and flats.  I really did not find large groups of shad.  I worked the area from Hartley Branch to the dam.  I even scanned around the coffer dam.  This screen shot is about the largest school of shad that I could find and couldn't find any schools that looked like they were being disturbed.

In general shad are more scattered in warm months; screenshots on the video are during cold water when they are pushed deep and stay there. This time of year current can be your friend and help position the fish; I’ve only fished Stockton the one week earlier this summer but I found when they were generating in the afternoon(during that hot spell in June) I could much more easily predict where the fish would be and catch a few spooning or jigging specific structure.  Other times of the day I found fish to be much more scattered and I had to work harder.

In my recent post I noted bait fish in 20 fow pretty close to the bank on the gravel flats.  In this case the bait fish were on the bottom and lit up the bottom half of my screen.  You may want to watch https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tacticalbassin.  They announced that they were putting together a 3 part series on interpreting your locator.

that is like trying to hit a needle in a haystack fishing wise.

Dutch:  I used to fish Table Rock quite a bit back in the late 90's and early 2000's.  Back then I had a PinPoint graph on the bow.  Best graph I ever had.  Wished they still made them.  I could fish suspended fish and do well with a spoon or dropshot.  On Table Rock the fish just seem to school more making finding them, and fishing them easier.  I am still a strong believer that on Stockton the fish scatter in the summertime and you will find one here, and another one there.  No rhyme or reason other than they are cruising looking for shad.  On Table Rock they seem to gang up.  Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Weird how 2 lakes, close in proximity, both clear, both rocky, but they fish very different.  For me anyways.

Yep I think you are right.  I've looked for them before but never been able to find concentrations.  The driving force for me has been the last 2 years when the post spawn bite is to great then they disappear for a couple of months.  This summer has been worse than last summer.  Maybe I need to visit the rock for a while till things pick back up.  It is 20 miles closer for me than Stockton anyway.

I went out for a couple hours this morning and found bait fish and SM.  This may be what you are looking for?
