No.

I just pointed out that people do it. Whether you like it or not is up to you. I’m out.

One thing is for sure -- there's always an element of personal preference in these discussions. To some extent we're all going to go with what we know, understand and have confidence in...maybe to the detriment of learning something new at times. Sorry if I came across as argumentative. I really just don't see myself jacking with that many flies and probably could have made that point better.

Neither is really that difficult. It's not my favorite way but I ain't scared of it either. And if I can cast a bobber with 8 foot of tippet to the first fly and another couple to the dropper. then anyone can do it. Kind of reminds me of casting a big air resistant popper on a 5 wt.

And yes I do go without the indicator when I can, but sometimes I need that crutch to have some fun.

Video link to someone  casting 10' tippet & indicator? I was serious when I said I'd like to see that. It is not some thing that I can imagine and as far as I am aware of have never seen. Is there also several feet of leader above the indicator?  I have seen people at RRSP using bobbers on fly rods but the bobber was only a couple feet from the fly, with several feet of leader between it and the line. I wondered "why have leader above the bobber?"  I still don't know. When I asked one guy, his answer was "well, because you really have to have it this way".

It shut you up, so that was a perfect answer.  😂

nah, It just told me he had no idea why, someone had told him "do this" and he was a good sheep. Lots of folks have no idea why or what they are doing in many things.

Brett Radar at chartered Waters showed my daughter and I how to do it a few years ago in Taney.  They had been running a full 4 units for weeks and we booked him on vacation.   Sure we could have spin fished but we like to fly fish.  It's not really a cast because there is no loop.  We laid it out on one side of the boat and let the water load it.  Straight overhead cast to the other side with the line almost straight in line with the rod.  Flop it over a few times to get it away from the boat is all we did.  We also used slip bobbers that day.

BTW, I think Bill Babler mentioned in his report that they were using 9' of leader.

I'll do something similar when fishing a regular nymph rig -- let it drift past, tighten up, swing, load and flip it back upstream. I invented that :D

Well now that's something else you could teach me, I don't even know what it is. Sounds drug related, but I'm sure it isn't.
