MOsmallies, I have never fished any of the Falcons other than the Cara series. My guess just from shaking them in stores is that the Lowrider would make a very good spinnerbait stick as well. Action seems similar, maybe just a touch slower, which I wouldn't hate. Not to sway you to spend money you don't want to spend, but I do find that I use the AOY rod pretty often, not just for spinnerbaits. It also makes a great big spook type rod, and for squarebills in cover, and works fine for bigger jerkbaits as well. It's a great all around rod for any moving bait technique that you point the tip at the water for, or need extra casting accuracy for close quarters.

My current spinnerbait rod and chatterbait rod are built on the same blank as the low rider.  I like them a lot.

St Croix makes a Spinnerbait Sniper rod that is awesome, in the Legend Bass Tournament series.  I have one and really like it, and it works great for Chatterbaits also.

@mixermarkb and @Bill Babler do you think the 6'8" (MH) AOY Falcon Lowrider would be just as good for Spinnerbaits (3/8-1/2 oz)? I've been looking at this one for a while and I'm trying to decide if the extra $50 for the Cara would be worth it since it's a reaction bait. Thanks for your feedback! I throw Cara's for all my jig rods.

Just an FYI that the Lowrider is on clearance at Tackle Warehouse. Usually when TW has closeout pricing on gear it's because the manufacturer is either ending that product line or updating it. So not sure what that means for the Lowrider line from Falcon.

*** Edit

I just checked out Falcons webpage and it looks like they revamped the Lowrider series with some updates on the 2019 models.

Notable among 2019 LowRider features is the addition of tangle free “K Frame” Fuji guides.  Along with new extra-durable, silky-smooth FazLite guide rings.  We tuned the actions with a higher grade of aerospace- rated carbon fiber to achieve an even lighter blank in the fish catching actions that our fishermen have come to expect.

It's my understanding the the new lowrider series will be made off shore as will the reintroduction of expert.

I believe the lowrider will have a price decrease . The expert will be close in price to the Cara

Royal Blue I hope you like your rod.  If not just let me know.

I used it yesterday and caught 4 on it.  I really like the action on it and had no problem handling a nice 3lb largemouth at all.  Thanks for the deal!

I actually took advantage of the TW closeout price and bought it last weekend... Just showed up in my office mailroom!!

I could use another 7' deep spinnerbait rod.  I'm picky as all hell though, it can't be a split-grip, can't have micro guides, gotta be stiff enough to handle 1/2oz. Spinnerbaits but soft enough for casting square bills and lipless baits because I use the same rod for all three, plus Carolina rigging.

I have a high-end Fenwick that is serving that purpose ok now but it has lived a hard life. Looks like I use it to poke fires and beat copperheads with.  It needs to be retired.  Plus it is a 7'2" and won't quite squeeze in my rod box, that's why it looks so rough.

Just my opinion but a Carolina Rig rod is gonna be hard to pair on a rod that is used for spinnerbaits, SB's and lipless crankers. For Carlolina Rigs I prefer a longer and stouter rod than on the other applications you mention. There are so many great rods being produced these that you shouldn't have a problem getting one that suits you. Rod market is so competitive these days you can find a decent rod without breaking the bank.

If you want to talk to guys that will steer you right give the Tackle Trap (based in Alabama) guys a call. Will take what info you give them and put you in a rod that fits both budget and intended use. I am in no way affiliated with them. They have a big following over on BBC and I have bought from them in the past. Won't steer you wrong and will price match as well. Good dudes. That or give Babler a shout out and he could get you in a Falcon model that fits the bill.
