Just my opinion but a Carolina Rig rod is gonna be hard to pair on a rod that is used for spinnerbaits, SB's and lipless crankers. For Carlolina Rigs I prefer a longer and stouter rod than on the other applications you mention. There are so many great rods being produced these that you shouldn't have a problem getting one that suits you. Rod market is so competitive these days you can find a decent rod without breaking the bank.

If you want to talk to guys that will steer you right give the Tackle Trap (based in Alabama) guys a call. Will take what info you give them and put you in a rod that fits both budget and intended use. I am in no way affiliated with them. They have a big following over on BBC and I have bought from them in the past. Won't steer you wrong and will price match as well. Good dudes. That or give Babler a shout out and he could get you in a Falcon model that fits the bill.

Lots of good blanks out there, but so many are built with split grips....and I can't stand that.

I've always liked something that is a little heavier than Medium action for Spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, and C-rigging.   Most Med/Hvy's are a bit too stiff for that.   I just recently started pitching square bills on stiffer rods and I like the effect.   I can't stand a slow spongy parabolic rod.  Even when fishing light line I want the rod to be pretty fast.    It's just what feels best to me.

I'm kicking around buying a kit from Mudhole Customs and assembling it at home.  There are multiple spinnerbait rod kits on their site and they're on sale right now for around $120-$130 depending on handle and grip material.  The shorter rod I got from Dutch is an Ark with a shrinkwrap one piece Mudhole grip and so far, I'm ecstatic with the way it performs.  I had it out Wednesday and had a 3lb largemouth crush a 3/8 oz Molix blade right as the blades started turning and it kept her pinned perfectly.  I totally understand wanting a little bit stouter rod for bigger blades though.

IMO a spinnerbait rod needs to be less than 7' for all day one-handed accurate pitch-casting.   Doing that all day with a 7'+ rod would be a wrist and forearm killer.

I could use another 7' deep spinnerbait rod.  I'm picky as all hell though, it can't be a split-grip, can't have micro guides, gotta be stiff enough to handle 1/2oz. Spinnerbaits but soft enough for casting square bills and lipless baits because I use the same rod for all three, plus Carolina rigging.

I have a high-end Fenwick that is serving that purpose ok now but it has lived a hard life. Looks like I use it to poke fires and beat copperheads with.  It needs to be retired.  Plus it is a 7'2" and won't quite squeeze in my rod box, that's why it looks so rough.

So which is it.

My absolute favorite SB/BB rod was a 7 foot MMF rod paired with straight braid. Can't remember ever losing a fish on that rod, they ate the baits extremely well. Unfortunately it was a custom blank no longer available.

For general spinnerbait stuff I like a 6'6"

For long casts and slow rolling down to 15' or so I use my C-rig 7' rod.

Truth be told it is what fits you like a bowing ball. If it does you can about use it in several  situations

Right.  I should be able to carry only 5 rods in the boat.  One with each line weight from 8# to 20#.

But noooo, I have 12 rigs stuffed in the rodbox.  Totally excessive and rediculous.

Excessive and ridiculous is good.

TOTALLY excessive and ridiculous is great!

I own two kinds of rods.Cherrywood and Ugly Stick. most 6 1/2 and 7 ft medium action rods.  Might have 4-5 preach around here.  I have had Ugly sticks since they came on the market with just pistol grips on them. I still have the original someplace. That rod had been used so much the Protective layer of paint or whatever it is was cracking off. I do not fish a awful lot of different types of lures. At this point in my life I fish where I want ,when I want and how I want. I fish nowhere but on LOZ and only about 2-3 hours and day. Rarely more than a couple miles from my house.I do better than average and never keep a fish . I am not out to impress anyone.  I believe most rods can be used for several different applications this to depends on the individual. My neighbor has a 6 ft crappie outfit he insist on using for fishing big plastic worms for bass and Hybrids. The more battle he has to put up with the better he likes it. Last summer he caught a 8+lb hybrid on one of them on 4 lb test line. That thing made several long runs before I ever got it to the net..He loved every minute of it. If one gets off( very few do) he's  mature enough fisherman that it does not bother him in the least. Im the same way so we make a good pair.
