JestersHK Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 So finally made it home. Thanks torrential downpour in grey summit for keeping me white knuckles and awake... So my buddy Brandon and I got down around 1245 or so. We had to spool some line and get situated so ended up in the water after 1. Started at the dam and worked our way down to the outlet. Zip, nada, zilch... We were the only two crazies there and apparently the fish left too lol. Turns out fish were there. Had a few bumps on the DOF ( Doty Original Flavor) but despite the sharp hooks never connected. They were running a half unit all night. Interesting flow and one I haven't fished too much, but I decided we would hit the flats past outlet 2. Again, we stuck out. We fished 3 different size sticks, fished them fast, slow, medium, but they were being picky for some reason. 3rd stop we headed down to boat ramp, and went downstream a bit. Rocks are nasty down there and I slowly made my way out while Brandon was fishing from the ramp. That's when things got weird... So PSA for you night fisherman. Fog was super thick, headlamps, even red, were useless and we started hearing something splashing in the water. At first I figure maybe a dear was out there or something, but then it kept starting and stopping. Almost like a person walking in the current. I got out of the rocks and made my way over to the ramp and we walked down a bit to edge of the woods there to see if we could determine what it was. Then there was a noise like 2 big rocks banging together then a splash like a rock being thrown in the water. Then more thrashing around in the water... We stood there, in the thick fog no longer talking, and really focusing our hearing in the darkness. We tried our lamps in between fog waves to see if we could see eyes, but by this point it was a bit eery. My biggest concern down there at night has always been 2 legged critters, but this had my neck hair standing up so we decided to head back to car. Brandon jokingly ask how many bullets I have and I told him I only needed one so I could run faster than him lol. I spend a ton of time in woods and water in the dark, enough to know that when your Spidey senses tingle you may want to listen. At lunch today I was relating this to Bill Babler and he said may have been a bear foraging. It very well could of been, but may have been a Sasquatch for all we'll ever know. So after that ordeal we took a quick power nap and decided we'd go back when we had some daylight. It wasn't until grey Dawn arrived that we finally caught fish. First me then Brandon, both on the DOF. Real pretty bows, but nothing huge. Brandon actually had a huge hit that about ripped the rod out of his hands but he was asleep at the wheel and missed it. Caught a few more then ran into Duane and his party. He swung his boat over and I got to see and handle a new DOSF. S is for for sculpin! I caught a few more, missed 3 or so on the DOSF, and a few on the jig. Once the sun was all the way out it shut down totally for us. We decided to call it around 11 as I had a cheesecake running low on ice. Overall a pretty subpar trip for me. Saw a few rainbows maybe 18 to 19, but no Walters caught, or brownies. Gonna have to get them in a few weeks I guess... Stay safe out there guys, and if you see Sasquatch tell him I said hi lol. Johnsfolly, BilletHead, Jadesjigs and 1 other 4

BilletHead Wait a minute this coming from the guy that said I wont give you one unless you use it😜. A bait should be fished not put on a shelf. I agree that these baits like the MH french fries are as much art as they are baits. I'm proud to know the artists😁. JestersHK 1

Hey you got down, got spooked by the Squatch, and caught some fish buddy. Congrats buddy! Wish I hadn't been working. I have got to get down where that action is. Has to be a brown down there that wants to meet me! JestersHK 1
JestersHK Posted September 20, 2018 Author Posted September 20, 2018 Pretty sure tears will be shed when I lose one... Brandon took one for a spin, and I told him if he snags up he better be ready to swim lol. The pictures of the sculpin don't do it justice. The pattern on them is really something special you got there good buddy! Johnsfolly and duckydoty 2
Quillback Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Sounds like Momo was out. What you thought were two rocks being clunked together was actually the heads of a couple of night fishermen being whacked against each other. Momo likes to soften them up before he dines on them. Good thing you got out of there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Momo_the_Monster Of course none of the missing fishermen ever make the news as the local powers that be keep that kind of news suppressed as they don't want to scare the tourists away from the Branson area.
