As soon as I realized who it was, I figured that his fish was caught on a giant swim bait and it was. Could you imagine throwing a 6oz bait all weekend?! That would wear a guy out! Oliver is a very cool cat who has always responded to my info requests on swim baits almost immediately. He doesn't know LOZ, he is just dedicated and has extreme patience. Him and his crew have inspired me on swim baits.....I'm still learning but, it is one of my favorite ways to nail a big fish......patience is required though. Good for Oliver conorsixtakc 1
Seth Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 I'm hoping he got that fish on video and will be making a video of his LoZ BBB trip. I'd love to see if he caught that fish swimming that big swimbait along a dock or in open water. MOsmallies, Blazerman and Smalliebigs 3

Including losing another giant after weighing in the winning fish. Looking forward to it. I've always enjoyed following him. Dude just travels all over the country catching massive fish and getting killer footage of it all. Smalliebigs and Seth 2
Members RogueAgent Posted October 8, 2018 Members Posted October 8, 2018 Had one over 5 in practice on Friday, caught lots of 2-2.5lbers Saturday and Sunday. #ShouldaBeenHereYesterday Lost a fat 4+ on a dock cable Saturday afternoon. She was in the bottom of the net and jumped/shook the Bull Shad and waved goodbye all in a split second 🤮 Weighed a 3.7 during the last time slot Sunday and put it on the trailer between monsoon rains and lightning. Props to Oliver Ngy, love his channel. Every boater we met was pleasant despite the weather and stingy bite near the dam and it was good to see so many kids fishing with their parents. If you're balanced in your approach and let the tackle work for you, it's all fun. Hell, I'd recommend a couple glide baits for the rivers, ISlide 185, Gan Craft 178 or Deps SS175. They'll pull big fish while being small enough to get the 2lb fish. Shhhh....big baits don't work in Missouri... But seriously, you are 100% spot on about letting the tackle do the work. With an appropriately rated rod, heavy baits are no more effort than anything else.
Old plug Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I been fishing a big black plug for years that i do not even remember the name of(I think it might be sputter fuss. it is about 3 1/2 to 4' inches long and has a buzz bait type spinner on there front. It has large heavy galvanize hooks on it.. The hooks are the reason I do not use it more they do not hook well. I really need to change therm and be more serious with it. Pretty versatile bait over all

Hell just 5 hours of slinging a 1 7/8oz. A rig and it hurts to pee. evilcatfish, Seth, conorsixtakc and 2 others 2 3
nomolites Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I was not bass fishing but saw a couple areas on the ‘Bird with toads working large threadfin shad in 35-40 FOW for extended periods of time..could have been blue cats but looked like bass to me. They were not interested in my multiple passes with #9 crankbaits; just curious if Oliver was dragging his baits deep in that range or shallow? The fish I caught this weekend(hybrids, blue cat, crappie, bass)were all in 30+ FOW. Mike conorsixtakc 1

We'll be able to see how he caught it. Apparently he had another one hooked that was even bigger than his winning fish, but it got off. I'm curious to see if he was just swimming those swimbaits along docks or fishing open water.

I believe the fish quit playing that game after they reach about 3 pounds. Seth 1
