10-7-18 big m

got a late start so we fished the big m area tonight.  fished about 4 1/2 hours.  ended up with 9 keepers.  2 k's and the rest lmg's.  all were caught on a 3/4 GrassJig and they were all right at 25 ft. deep.  found them on bluff ledges and the ledge had to be 25 ft. and then off into the channel.  tried a couple of flatter areas but did not get any bites.

well, it was more from close to 8 to midnight😄.  we fished five spots.  two of them had the fish on them.  k's on one and the lmg's on the other.  i really king of pieced together where to look based on your catching them out in the lake busting shad hoping to find an area that some had laid down to rest and had not just suspended out on the lake.

unless, you can come upon some actively feeding on the shad like you did with the busters, you have to go hunt where some might be resting such as in deep tree tops or a near by place on the bottom.  these "resters" are the ones that you have to be precise with presentation to make them strike.  the two areas that we did catch them both had lots of shad very near.  so, i did spend some time looking for an area where there was lots of bait very near and not out in the middle of the lake.

well, nearly two weeks of close to 40 at night will sure make things begin to change.  the next thing we will be dealing with is fishing around turnover.

I checked a few roll offs Sunday morning in the big m area. Could only catch them early in the morning and it got more sporadic as the sun came up. But as the gravel starts to taper off and you hit the 30 ft mark there is tons of 3/4inch shad on the bottom in those areas with sparse fish activity working the shad. When the thermocline goes away for good and the water cools off, it should be game on. Just like Bill B., I will be strolling a tube and jig real soon.

43 degrees here in Bella Vista this morning.  Had to turn the heat on.  I like it for the fishing, but would have been nice to have a bit of a transition between summer and winter.
