The Mrs. picks up preying mantis' and walking sticks whenever she finds them. Our daughters don't see the need or humor in it.

It is bigger than the end on my thumb.  Maybe a little over an inch across.  I have a second one that is a little smaller, the picture was not as good.

Mantises are alien creatures.  Not of this world.  I mentioned in another thread about picking one up last Summer....and it let out a scream.  Freaked me out !  😬

Those thinks are crazy, they will catch and kill hummingbirds. They eat the brains through the eyehole. Look up YouTube videos of mantises catching hummingbirds. It is wicked.

We like them. One summer we did have a large one that would hang onto the hummingbird feeder. Had to take if off there a couple of times before it didn't come back. Never saw it catch a bird but did see it try once.
