MOPanfisher Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 There was a time when I would bet you couldn't knock me out of a boat, great balance and could roll with the waves etc. no worries at all. One dam round of chemo and poof balance gone, much of it has come back but it ain't never gonna come back all the way. I have worked around the lakes and seen too many odd things to be sure of anything anymore. I am a bit more sensitive where kids are involved, if an adult wants to take there chances go for it, but don't risk other people's or your kids lives. BH, I don't know the circumstances of your rescue at Caplinger, but if the water was running good that thing is dangerous, low head dams are drowning machines when flowing. Glad it didn't pull you and wife into it and make it a triple drowning, otherwise who would try to convince me that goose and duck are actually edible. BilletHead 1

And leather gloves and eye protection when cooking bacon. Roll bar on the truck. Kevlar vest & concealed pistol for visiting gas stations. Chaps and steel toes for chainsaw work. Chain gloves for filleting fish. Helmet and knee/elbow pads for bicycle rides. Respirator for visiting smoky bars. Anything to make your eventual death drag out and keep your family under stress and worry for as long as possible. Nothing less than 64 trips to the hospital to pray bedside is going to be acceptable. 😒😥😪😫 I say piss on it. We all gotta go sometime, no sense in dragging it out and causing years worth of sadness, worry, and drama. Wrench is right....don’t matter how you try to prevent it, when your number is drawn the gig is up

You can either die a long and agonizing death in a hospital from any number of diseases, or you can trip over a bottle of Dip-n-dye and fall out of a boat hitting your head on the way out. Preventing one way of dying is just opening the door for another. Why bother wearing a PFD if you're not also gonna wear a helmet, eye protection, and a RFID chip? I can understand wearing safety equipment when there is a reasonable probability that things could go bad, but taking anal safety measures just because you're doing something other than sitting in a recliner watching TV just seems rediculous. You hear guys say "man if he was only wearing a PFD he'd still be alive". Well if he hadn't left the stupid bottle of Dip-n-dye on the deck, or paid attention to where he was putting his feet then he'd still be alive too. Where do ya draw the line of blame?

A not so smart guy decided he wanted to try to ride a raft over the dam. ON PURPOSE. Old plug Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 I got two young granddaughters. I waited many years for them. would like to watch them a bit more Drowning is not the most pleasant death. I believe it would very painful. I still can visualize very clearly (after 60+ yrs) a Pilot drown after his A4D flamed out on the catapult out in the middle of the Indian Ocean. He hit the water and blew his canopy But for some reason he could not get out of the aircraft or even eject. We all stood there on the flight deck and watched him go slowly down. Got to see the whole show of the struggle and gasping for air. It kind of instilled a fear of drowning in me. Daryk Campbell Sr and BilletHead 2

It's not all about your mistake Wrench, What about the other guy that causes the accidental incident that puts you in danger? Lets see how to make this work for LOZ since you fish it. That big wake boat swamped your boat, flipped you out then you bumped your head on Old Plugs log. Not your fault but there you are unconscious with no life jacket. Think of your family, think of us here that need to ask how to fix our Evinrude outboard. 3 minutes ago, Old plug said: I got two young granddaughters. Us there up close and personal trying to throw the guy a rope. Old plug Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 You could not throw anything . There were 3 marine with M1s shooting the sharks that showed up almost as fast as he hit the water. Yeah it gives you a real helpless feeling
MOPanfisher Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 I am gonna do my best to ensure that when my time is up I leave this existence quietly in a nice warm, well lit location and not in a cold wet one. I agree that when it's your time there is nothing you can do to prevent it, but I am not going to tip the odds away from my favor if I don't have too.

Let me get this right. No kill switch or PFD while fishing 4 units at Taney in the winter because I'm just prolonging my worthless existence past what it should be, because I'm in my 50's and I have nothing to look forward to except a bunch of trips to hospital.... Got it...I'll take a hard pass on this one.
