I like to eat teal, mallards, and wood duck on the grill. The rest are gumbo or jerky ducks. Coot isn’t bad. Have eaten crow, but never crow protein.

Talked with a buddy this evening regarding ducks. Says he slices diver duck into thin strips and uses as a repaclement for clam in clam chowder. His guests said great. Dude can cook though.    Did buy 2 dozen mallard decoys. Rigged a dozen with 4oz Texas rigs, thinking heavier weights for next batch.  What do you all use? Thinking about adding a few more decoys for river hunts. Woodies maybe?

Watch craigslist...can get some good deals in decoys...I bought 36 g&h for a dollar a piece last summer...10 or so had swivel heads...had to rig em though...

current deal I’m working on is for some big foots...the guy has 33 of em total...but we’re a little off on the money...and I really don’t want them all...they take up too much room

don’t skimp on the decoys...you look at the decoys a bunch while you’re hunting...so buy some you like...

iF you rig tx style...tie the cords in an overhand knot...before putting into a bag...or get the strap weights and wrap the cord around keel....either way seems to work fine

Decoys look good.  I’ve been adding to my spread this summer too.

We don’t have a place to hunt worth driving to Joplin from St. Louis...but 4rivers isn’t too far.  If you wanted to meet up there sometime...we could probably have some fun.  I’ve got a 1436 Alweld with a mud buddy...it’ll get us out into the marsh/corn.

Spoonbills like the beans.  Maybe they will get them in the ground.
