Quillback Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I have started messing around with braid. My scissors have a tough time cutting that stuff especially the tag ends after tying a knot. Any recommendations on a pair of scissors?
jdmidwest Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Wally World sells a pair in the fishing Dept. Work good an come with hook sharpner on cover. Daryk Campbell Sr and Quillback 2 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Terrierman Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 The Lew's aluminum pliers have cutters that cut everything and they are the best pliers ever. Daryk Campbell Sr and Quillback 2
kjackson Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Rapala's braid scissors are the ones I use. They have mini-serrations that hold and cut. Avoid the Berkley scissors... Mustad has a split-ring pliers that has a braid-cutting feature that works very well in the KVD series of tools. dnj21, Quillback and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
dan hufferd Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I have split ring pliers with braid cutters that are handy. My favorite cutting tool at the time are those little extendable razor knives. For a dollar you can buy 3, I have them everywhere. They work well on braid. Quillback and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Smalls21 Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 i bought a pair of the CUDA brand scissors at Wally World last year, so far they seem to work good. before that i used a pair of surgical scissors Daryk Campbell Sr and Quillback 2
Dutch Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Go to the sewing department in Wal-Mart. They have some really good ones that are knife sharp. Rockhopper and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

Quillback Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 Well I was in Wally World today and I bought the Rapala serrated edge ones, heck they were $2.96 so I figured if they didn't work I wasn't out much. Got home and tied a couple of knots, had no problem cutting tag ends off. We'll see how they stand up to the test of time, if they fail, lots of good suggestions on this thread. Thanks for the replies!
Members Rockhopper Posted February 6, 2019 Members Posted February 6, 2019 Fiskars blunt nose scissors for kids. Wally World had them on sale a few months ago for 99 cents. I bought a few for my grandkids. I kept a pair at my fishing table to open packages and by chance picked them up to cut braid tags when I tied on some lures. They cut the braid like a hot knife thru butter. I now have a couple pair on the boat. rps, snagged in outlet 3, Smalliebigs and 1 other 4
