Members swelbo1 Posted February 12, 2019 Members Posted February 12, 2019 Which colors do y’all have the best luck with in spring on TR? I was lookIng around at some of the colors and I have the sexy shad and sight flash. Any recommendations other than those? Thanks.
IL Fisherman Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Those 2 work well for me. I use sexy shad 90% of the time. Also use a lot of 2.8’s
bferg Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 +1 on the 2.8. Sexy shad and blue red pearl... I’m sure some would disagree but I don’t over think the color on those- if it looks shadlike they seem to bite it. Quillback, liphunter, magicwormman and 4 others 7
dwiebenga Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Ayu, Electric Shad, and Blue Red Pearl ... Anything you like that looks like a baitfish. I also use this size as a Swim Jig trailer ( GP, Black Blue, Sight Flash, Sun Gill)
Quillback Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 I'm partial to Rainbow Shad myself, but agree with Bferg that if it's shad like, they'll bite it. Electric Blue - Chartreuse works well for small mouth, they seem to like those bright colors. I use 2.8 on a 1/8 oz head, 3.3 on 1/4 oz and 3/8 for the 3.8. magicwormman, MGP, liphunter and 1 other 4
Bill Babler Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Rainbow Shad is without a doubt the number 1 used swimbait on TR that Keitech makes. If you look at derby boats what they have hanging on either their A-rigs or under spins most often it is Rainbow shad. Blue Pearl is also a fantastic color. After the spawn in the dam area, smallmouth magic can be a real go to. Mhyde, Quillback, magicwormman and 2 others 5 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
liphunter Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 How effective is the Kietech or another swim bait for walleye? Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???

I fished Beaver on the lower end quite a bit last spring for smallmouth, used the Keitechs a lot, I am going to estimate that between me and whoever was fishing with me, we put maybe 12 keeper sized walleye in the boat. Didn't catch them every time and we weren't targeting them, but they did seem to like that keitech. Ham, Champ188, magicwormman and 2 others 4 1

They can be fished year round with some slight variations in the way you fish it and the types of areas you fish. Very versatile. I'm partial to the 3.3" and they also make another little swimbait called the Easy Shiner that is excellent as well. Colors: pro blue magic, electric shad, rainbow shad, silver flash minnow.
