JamiePatterson Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Hi guys and gals, needing info on painting the inside of an older riverboat. Any recommendations on what kind of pint to use? Oil base, acrylic enamel, etc? Might even do the outside. Boat sat in a dock for years and I’m trying to slick it back up. Thanks for any help you can offer.
JamiePatterson Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 Here is the rig. Bad pic, but you get the idea. In the process of building a trailer for it right now. Should have it done tomorrow and then on to freshening up the boat. snagged in outlet 3 1
Old dog 417 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 I'd recommend good old JD green and yellow for durability but I'm awful partial to JD's. Lol. I noticed the combine's unloading auger in the background nearly touching the overhead door. They hang out a ways now days! Nice job on the trailer. It's gonna be a beaut! od Deadstream and JamiePatterson 2
Greasy B Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Don’t skimp on price, we ended up stripping and repainting before we had a durable coating. I don’t recall what brand we use but I came from our local West Marine store, we added sand or some type of abrasive. Terrierman Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 One suggestion: Texture in whatever paint you use. snagged in outlet 3 and JamiePatterson 2
Gavin Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 They sell the paint texture stuff at the pool store. Works great when I re-epoxy the stairs on my in-ground pool.
Terrierman Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 When I put a floor in my commissary boat (1/2" CCA plywood) I painted it with textured porch paint from Lowes. It's holding up well. Don't think that would be first choice to go on fiberglass though. One other consideration - light colored floor is much cooler in the summer. tho1mas, Ham and JamiePatterson 3
netboy Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Try wiping a bit of muriatic acid on the stained area. That stuff does a good job removing the brown stains. Wipe it on, let it sit for a few minutes then rinse off. JamiePatterson 1
