Bill Babler Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 0630 with an air temp of 12 degree, a bass boat came out of Big Cedar Hollow headed toward the dam. So cold a heavy steam was coming and is still coming off the lake. You have to be pretty mad at them to get out in 12 degree weather. Right now we are up to a balmy 26 so it is getting a little tiny bit better. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members Bullcreek Posted March 5, 2019 Members Posted March 5, 2019 Bill I don't think I have ever been that mad at them. My partner and I went out Friday and 3 hours into the trip with no fish I was starting to 2nd guess my choice to go fishing. Luckily around 1 PM we got on a little deal and managed to catch 3 keeper blacks and one short. That saved the day.
Quillback Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Too cold for me to even think about it. Friday may be a decent day to be out.
Bill Babler Posted March 5, 2019 Author Posted March 5, 2019 You know it had to be tough with your line freezing just about every cast. Couple of buddies went down to Grand week before last to pre-fish for a Nicholes tournament. They fished the entire day in cold muddy water and did not get a bite. They have won $1000.00 of dollars there in the past this time of the year, and it was just terrible. Tournament was cancelled. I told McClelland they went down and before I told him how they did, he said it would not surprise him if they never had a bite. Dude knows Grand Lake. Old plug Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 It is really a dangerous time to be out on the lakes right now. You can die in a matter of a minutes sometimes at times. even in a life vest. . I recall a whole 3 man S2F anti sub plane all being ,lost even with poopie suits on Of course that as up at the arctic circle. But it does apply down here If the water is cold enough. Here on LOZ it is a Ice is a threat most times I think BaIbler can remember the narrow ares of the Gravois between Cedar point and North side of the lake. Last year it was covered with ice about 6" thick . But because of rain the night before it had a thin sheet of water on top of it. Detecting it was impossible because there was no wind that morning. My neighbor set hopelessly in his living room and watched several boats coming up full tilt up from coffins beach collide with it. tearing up a few motors and hulls I believe one go those boats at least ended up in Wrenches shop

Why everyone feels the need to haul fish around just perplexes me. It wasn't even a tournament day. 🙄 Just for the record.....If your boat comes in here with dead bass in the livewell, you are ineligible for the Good ol'boy discount. bluebasser86, dan hufferd, vernon and 7 others 10

For gosh sakes, it was sunny! Now if it was cloudy and snowing/sleeting, we might have been out there. 😄 merc1997 Bo 1
Bill Babler Posted March 7, 2019 Author Posted March 7, 2019 I have broken 3 Sea Star hydrolic lines trying to fish below 32 degrees and I'm not gong to pop another. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
