moguy1973 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I use the Alberto or the Albright, which are pretty much the same knot. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Ham Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I can tie a unit to uni very easily. I just can’t stand that knot bumping thru the guides. If your leader and main line are of equal pound test, you will get a fair amount of breaks at the Alberto knot. Sucks, but that’s been my experience. I tracked my failures with the Alberto back to this.
Seth Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I typically use an Alberto knot for joining braid to fluorocarbon and a uni to uni for mono to fluorocarbon/mono. I love the FG knot for joining braid to fluorocarbon BUT it is hit or miss whether I tie it properly. Not sure what the secret is to that one, but it is amazing when the braid grabs hold of the leader. A lot of times it all just pulls apart though.
MrGiggles Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I also use the alberto/albright. With Nanofil I like to double it. Usually the mono breaks further down before the knot fails. -Austin

drew03cmc Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Triple Surgeons knot for me...rarely fails and dead simple to tie. Andy
slothman Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 I usually use a surgeons knot or blood knot. I’d probably use a double uni if I were connecting a leader to braid.
Mitch f Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 FG is best. It just grabs the line like a Chinese finger trap… There’s really no hard curve in the line that would cause the knot to break. It’s also extremely thin. slothman and Seth 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
