snagged in outlet 3 Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Wow!! I use one all the time. I was at Tablerock last year or the year before when that guy was ejected and killed in front of Indian Point Marina. Might have been Stillwater Resort. His family all watching in horror. I think it was a couple months before his body popped up.
Flysmallie Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 That's freaking scary. Early on when I had more boat than I needed I got tossed on the floor and the kill switch shut everything down. If i hadn't been using it I'm sure it would not have been good. Not only was that guy dumb for not using one he actually left the wheel to get his phone while the boat was under power. That kind of disregard for your own life is baffling.
fishinwrench Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 We all need these reminders as often as we can get them. Those of us that are in boats nearly every single day are no exception. I catch myself being lax about stuff like this ALL THE TIME, and if I don't tighten it up it will get me eventually. Thanks for posting! 👍 tho1mas and dtrs5kprs 2
moguy1973 Posted April 17, 2019 Author Posted April 17, 2019 Notice the guy wasn't wearing a PDF under power either. Without those guys there this could have turned into a tragedy real fast. And he wonders why he was out of breath when they rescued him. fishinwrench and dtrs5kprs 2 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
liphunter Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 There was a gentleman last year that posted about barely saving his hand with surgery and was inches away from losing more than that. A bolt had come out of his steering and the boat through him and his buddy out. Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???

MOPanfisher Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 He was very lucky, quite often the circle of death doesn't end well. Good reminder for all of us.
bferg Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 WEAR A LIFEJACKET!! If that boat hadn't been there how long could that guy have lasted out there?
