I think that if the scales themselves were an issue the anglers would bring that up.  They can also do a re-weigh if they want, and sometimes they do.

I agree and have seen very few fish re-weighed. They also have a backup scale in each boat. All the scales are calibrated prior to the event.

Somebody mentioned an idea a few days ago that I liked. What if these MLF style events had a big fish kicker that automatically qualified to advance to the next round, etc.? This way, we'd see anglers who aren't on the numbers transition back to chasing big fish. Possibly bring in the best of both worlds a bit more. Just a thought.

Something like in one of the periods you only add your largest 5 to the weight of the other 2 periods? I suggest this because a lot of the MLF guys are accustomed to hunting for 5 big ones and not numbers of smaller fish.

I could name quite a few athletes that performed flawlessly way more times than not, throughout their career.

You are spinning my words just like Chief does, and I'm not playing that crap with you.  I never said that all good fishermen were just lucky.

I can have a good day and beat KVD.  So can you.  And so can Billethead, Mitch, Snagged, and Ketchup.

None of us could ever have a good day and beat the piss out of Conner McGregor though.  Train for that one, and study science, all you want. 😂

I wasn't trying to spin your words, but I get your point now. I'm not Chief. I'll admit when I misunderstand somebody. Floyd Mayweather and Rocky Marciano came to my mind when I was trying to think of the closest thing to perfection in ones career. Both have undefeated pro boxing records. Anderson Silva was darn near perfect in MMA till he reached a certain point.

I am surprised the anglers that qualify to fish a knockout round agree to the weight's being reset to zero. Its a darn hard format when you look at it. They also cut 30 guys in this round...Pretty tough format really. I would like to see the top 20 fish the championship round and more payouts.

Jack Nicolas in golf.  And I can't the stand the guy.  He made slow play a thing.

A truly good Trap shooter, Archery shooter, Pool shark, Motocross racer, ect. STAYS GOOD forever.   But a good fisherman is only that good until he takes a nap.   He will hammer 'em one day (or week, or month), and get near skunked the next.  Where's the magic?  😅

Isn't this why we all love fishing so much? It can't be mastered.

I just wish they would do the biggest 5. It gets exhausting watching them weigh all those little fish on MLF. Feel like your watching them weigh more fish than actually fish

since it is a made for viewing event, it has much more action when they are fishing for peckerheads and not fishing for just 5 bites.

Yeah you gotta take a minute and realize who they are actually selling to.

The reason for the whole thing is not to see who is the best angler in the world, it is to sell products to guys with the mentality of FatCat Newton.

Us "hotshots" don't need advertising cuz we know what's coming before it ever hits the shelves.  They are selling to people that IF 4-5 pounders were constantly being caught they'd accuse them of fishing private Bill Dance ponds.

I really think they need to up the one pound to at least a 1.5 lb fish.   That would at least make you catch a 14 incher (lm) or so to count.  I like seeing the fish caught, but on a lake like Table Rock, 1lbers aren't hard to catch in May and water it down a little to me.

I will say toward the end of the rounds it is pretty fun to watch.  It is made for TV fishing.  I just wonder how this would be in true prespwan or mid summer.

So the deal is......They are still going to catch some small fish.... y'all are just pissed because they take time to weigh them?    Go grab a beer, pee, check your text messages, and stop being whiny bitches.  😆

I told my partner one day, I wish I could catch some of those fish like you are catching, ya know, the ones that you can just swing in.  Because I'm tired of having to get down on my knees to lip these big sonsabitches.

😊
