Dutch Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 So does this need to be incorporated into the new ap that Phil mentioned? Maybe the ap could send alerts like the weather ap so guys on the lake could get them and quickly respond? slothman, MoCarp and mikeak 3

Maybe the ap could send alerts like the weather ap so guys on the lake could get them and quickly respond? It's certainly a good idea. Times like last night where I had the lake to myself, testing fresh engine repairs always concern me. Don't know if my troller would make it several miles back to the ramp after an afternoon of fishing. -Austin
MoCarp Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Like a angler amber alerts be a $ maker MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Members mpark Posted June 7, 2019 Author Members Posted June 7, 2019 Wouldn't that be a cool app. You issue a distress call and everyone with the app would get an alert. Anyone on the lake at the time could respond. Maybe there is someone out there that could make this happen and release it for all the lakes. MoCarp 1
fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I don't want anybody knowing if I break down. That would be embarrassing. I'd rather just paddle home. 😏 Walleyedmike, Harps, Lifes2Short and 1 other 2 2
Members TTJJ Posted June 7, 2019 Members Posted June 7, 2019 I have a BoatUS unlimited Freshwater Tow + Trailer Assist policy. http://www.boatus.com/products-and-services/boat-towing/faq First - need to call BoatUS OR use their smartphone TOW app for service. This April I talked to BoatUS about my poor AT&T cell coverage at Stockton Lake and being outside of BoatUS service area. Mutton Creek Marina is on authorized BoatUS service provider list (Orleans Trail Marina (OTM) is not on list). (Nov 2018, AT&T: NO Service at Mutton Creek campground ramp; NO Service at Old State Park Ramp; NO Service at Ruark Bluff ramp parking lot; great service at Hawker Point ramp) I asked sales rep if my cell phone had NO Service and I could only reach OTM with my VHF radio (and could not reach Mutton Creek or BoatUS), could I have OTM tow? Rep told me that would be OK, but I would have to pay OTM, and then later send tow bill info to BoatUS, and reimbursement amount would depend on which tow policy I had. My policy has “reimbursement up to $2500 for tows outside of TowBoatUS service area”. I believe either Mutton Creek or Orleans Trail marinas can tow boats in (except maybe during OFF season / cold months??) May be hard to find a tow when marinas are closed.
fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 A BoatUS customer last year broke down on a Mo river sand bar. Someone from Boonville ran 30 miles to tow him to a ramp, then took him to his truck/trailer. Wouldn't even accept a tip. MoCarp and zarraspook 2

Basschomper Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 My son works at Mutton Creek Marina and I do know they have towed folks in even after the marina is closed. In the winter there are still a handful of them around there working on campsites and docks. I will see if I can get a number for after hours and the winter. I know the signal is definitely an issue with AT&T. Although I kind of like my phone not ringing while I’m fishing. Old dog 417 1
Members mpark Posted June 17, 2019 Author Members Posted June 17, 2019 I would love to have a Mutton Creek Marina on water service phone number since we normally launch out of Mutton North or Roark. Does anyone know if a multi-channel walkie talkie would be of any value due to the phone service in those areas?
