gitnby Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I haven’t been out in a while, but have my two young nephews coming in this weekend to fish. Thought I would get a few boxes of nightcrawlers and let them have some fun? Was planning on sitting on some gravel points and rolloffs in 20 to 25 feet or maybe some bluff ends? Does that sound about right? Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

gitnby Posted June 13, 2019 Author Posted June 13, 2019 We are up the James right by Hideaway Marina. Point 11 is probably a good place to start.
Bill Babler Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Chris Tetrick ie Mid-Lakes Guide Service caught them yesterday in that Baxter to point 10 area as deep as 40 plus. Said the bite was entirely suspended at 35 to 40 feet over depth, no structure, just sitting way out off the gravel breaks. One of the solo pro's from last weeks derby told me he caught them on a jig and a C-rig on the bottom as deep as 35ft. on Sunday, dragging right behind the boat, so don't hesitate to look deeper than you might think. When catching those deep fish, if possible don't fool with to many pictures, get them back in as soon as possible as they will blowup. Take your time bringing them up and enjoy the feel of the tug, after all that's why we're out there. gitnby Posted June 13, 2019 Author Posted June 13, 2019 Thanks, Bill! You still recommend 'fizzing' , if necessary? I've done it several times, but don't fish deep as much as I used to.
Bill Babler Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Nope, no fizzing required if you get them right back in the drink. magicwormman and Johnsfolly 2 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
gitnby Posted June 17, 2019 Author Posted June 17, 2019 The kids caught several nice fish! Spots, LM, a flathead and a channel cat. Bass were hanging between 22-26' on points. They had a blast! terryj1024, magicwormman, big c and 12 others 15
