Missouri rules prohibit rubber and vinyl in flies.

Was I among the only people that know that using flies tied with rubber or vinyl legs and or bodies are prohibited in fly fishing only and ribboned areas of streams/ I have been happily tying rubber legs on various flies onl to find they are illegal. Can anyone suggest different materials?

Yeah the good ole days when we could put a vinyl as an overback and fish zone 3 at bennett.

Since "soft plastic" specifically mentions "synthetic worms", I don't think "squirmy worms" are legal- but since they are allowed in international competitions that might cause a redefining or a change in regs.  Using "any material except"  xxx and "otherwise permanently fastened to the hook makes spoons flies. It certainly allows the use of rubber legs.

With the use of spinning/casting tackle allowed (in fly only areas) and this very broad definition of fly, I see no reason to bother designating water as "fly only".

Technically, it is a gray area that does not seem to matter.

But since nobody seems to care if you use powerbait in fly areas unless you complain, it is an approved material.  As long as it is on a single hook and at the end of a spin rod setup.....

I think bennett might be the only trout park that restricts fly fishing in areas that allow live bait or prepared bait or un attached material. As a matter of fact, I think you can fly fish in any of the red white and blue zones in addition to taneycomo. Come on bennett, get back in the game.
