My how could this happen at LOZ the mud hole and filthy lake

Not too surprising really since they haul good fish into that area on a daily basis.   

Make them all stay in the Gravois, Niangua, or upper Osage arms, away from release areas, and I bet you won't see weights like that very often.  Those are Grand Glaize area fish that are totally lost.  Not nearly as impressive as it may seem.

I don't know wrench- I'm a LOZ newb, with maybe all of 20 days on the lake in my life, and I've caught nice ones on the 3 trips I've made there this summer. Best 5 for 15 and change each trip, and I've been in the Gravois or just a couple points either side of its mouth. That's driving down from STL and fishing noonish till darkish.

I'm pretty sure someone with his clue ticket punched could crack 20 pounds pretty easy around the Gravois to the Dam. 

It's a solid LMB fishery, with a few nice Walters and a bunch of small hybrids for good measure.

I've got a clue ticket, and I'm saying that 15 is respectable, and 20+ ain't easy and doesn't happen for the same guy day after day.   I'm good for maybe two 20lb. days per year while fishing where I do, but if I fished the Glaize area enough to know it just as well as I do the Gravois I'm uber confident that it would happen way more frequently.  But I don't compete and I don't care to fish for handicapped bass just because they are bigger. It's akin to the difference in fishing a trout park vs. fishing a river far from the hatchery.

I don't compete either, and mostly only fish LOZ in the summer when I don't have time to go to Bull Shoals, and didn't fish it at all last year. I was a little shocked at how good the bite was for me the times I've made it down. I hope it stays together for a while longer so I can come try it again, but I've been fishing main lake stuff, and I'm sure it will die when they stop pulling quite so much water through. Hard telling how long that will be though, I haven't really looked to see how far Truman and Pomme have dropped yet. Most of the summer I guess will see a good current running though.

Oh, and the little guy caught his first bass down there. It was "as big as his leg", and he yelled "I CAUGHT MY FIRST BASS!!!!" loud enough when we got it in that I'm sure Old Plug probably heard him from inside!

Amazing.  My last time up last fall, the local pro shops call it a Crappie Lake.  They don't even bother to carry any bass lures, said I could find them at Walmart.

I had a sneaky suspicion that the green fish I was catching may have been bass.

Agree with Wrench, 15 and 20 are not the same and 20 is a good day and then some.  I have to agree with Mark also that the lower end regularly produces 20# sacks,  but of drum and blue cats only, there are no LMB in that deep clear water 🙄.

I am pretty  much limited In the amount of time I can be out in the evening.  if I can get in2- 3 hours in the evenings. Using my drop shot and a Monster kriet worm 10lbs is not hard at all. This year has seen a whole lot of 3 lb fish in this lake.
