Seth Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Made a quick trip down yesterday. Arrived at the lodge to buy my tag at 9:15 and had my fish cleaned and headed back home shortly after 10am. I stopped at the first big hole and it was full of fish. There fish in the middle of the hole weren't very active and I couldn't get them to bite so I moved down by the steps. There was a big wad right in front of the dump. I caught six or seven on an 1/80oz gold head olive micro jig that I tie and kept the first four nice ones. The key was to throw behind the school of fish and then just slowly reel the jig above their noses. One would react and bite every cast. There were a few young kids fishing next to me that were catching a few on dough bait below a float too. I got a kick out of the one fish they caught. One threw in first and I saw his bait disappear right away when a fish ate it, but the float never moved so he never set the hook. His buddy threw in after him and made the same drift line. Eventually one realized they were bit and started reeling in the fish. This made the other kids float move and he started reeling in as well. They soon found out that the same fish had eaten both of their baits. Quillback, Johnsfolly, Greasy B and 4 others 7

I've been chasing these stingy Gasconade River bass every weekend and it's wearing me down. I had to give them a break and do something different. After trout fishing yesterday, I came back home and met up with a couple buddies and went to the Gasconade to drink beer and drown worms while sitting in the water. It's been forever since I've fished and relaxed instead of acting like I'm mad at them. It was fun. JestersHK 1
JestersHK Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Its been so stupid hot and when its not its raining... I feel the pain there. I've found a new pond that belongs to my buddy's neighbor. Full of 10in pan fish and a bunch of largemouth that are between 4-6 pounds... Been fun, but need a trout fix soon LOL Johnsfolly 1
Haris122 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 I went down there on Monday, but not much to report. It was busier than I thought. The western bank of the spring seemed to have more access closer towards the red ribbon section than I remember. I think they must have cleared some vegetation from portions of it. Fishing wise I mainly threw my usual, roostertails and jerkbaits, without much luck. Made it all the way down to the red ribbon area without having caught a fish. Then couldn’t catch one in the red ribbon section either. Finally on way back up, in the run by the bathrooms, I tossed some sinking jerk/crankbaits into the turbulent water and got 3 decent ones in short succession before the bite died down there too. Lost another one throwing something similar further upstream where the 2 arms of the creek combine back together. That wound up being all the bites I got before I had to head back. I somehow lost my net at one point and never did find it, which sucked. Daryk Campbell Sr and snagged in outlet 3 2
Seth Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 The only time I've ever done well on jerkbaits was when the water was high and dingy. It was probably the best day of fishing I've ever had down there too. Spinners just get a bunch of follows and not many bites in my experience. Haris122 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Sux about the net. But sounds like you caught a few.
