I like it.  It's tough to get people to spend the extra money on them though.

I'll check it out.

Yup, same people that will rip a fish's insides out to save a 5¢ hook!

Simple solution would be no bait or scented plastics or soft plastics allowed.3 fish limit per person.Once that 4th fish is taken into possession you are done fishing since you have your limit.

Towel grabbers kill a lot of fish too.  I see it constantly out there.

I'm sure Frank, Frankie and Carl appreciate the folks that do this. Instead of just eating guts, they get the entire and don't even have to work for it.

Not Taneycomo related, but I fish circle hooks with shrimp a lot for catfish, since I usually let them go too, and last time I caught 2 of them from the kayak, and both had essentially swallowed them by the time I brought them in. I even had the barb bent and getting the hook out still took longer than I hoped it would. I would let it fall to the bottom, reel up just a bit, and let myself drift, along with the bait by the kayak. Both times it seemed I had a few probing bites, but I waited until the fish ran off before I started reeling, and I guess that wound up being too late cause it didn't end up in the corner of their mouth. Guess I needed to reel as they were doing the probing bites, but for the life of me it didn't seem like they were picking them up with those, it seemed just like they were nibbling and letting go.

Hook size could have been a factor. If too small they will sometimes swallow a circle hook as they swim away. That's why I use larger hooks than most people for fishing bait for trout. Yes, you might miss some small fish, but that's not rwally a loss, is it?

Yup, I see a few dead trout on the bottom every day with their mouths ripped to hell.

It baffles me how many people we have seen that will fish with dough bait or power eggs and then release trout that just had a hook ripped out of their stomach while be squeezed to death with a dry towel. It happened last year when we were staying at a resort down there. The people didn't like to eat the trout so they threw them all back. Most went belly up as soon as they hit the water.

When I am purposely fishing powerboat or eggs for trout I am keeping them. What I don't like is gut hooking a trout when I am fishing worms for suckers in the Niangua amd hadn't planned on keeping any. Should listen more to Oneshot who tends to head home with trout when he sucker fishes and bring a cooler regardless. And should start using circle hooks there too.

I was watching an offshore video and they were catching undersized mahi. Every one of thise fish was dropped into the boat, allowed to bounce all over the deck and then thrown back into the water. The whole time that guy us saying how high the mortality rate is for those short fish 😒.

I would also contend that carpeted boat decks aren't a great catch and release surface for those fish either.
