While I understand your question and problem.  I just can't stay silent on this issue.   Not obeying the rules is why we have lost so many privileges as fishermen.   If you can't obey the rules for whatever reason, you should not attend.   That is my 2cents.

I guess if they catch me at the only lake I have ever done it at, assuming I go there again, then they will just have to decide to either warn me or write me a ticket.  I won't argue if they do because I will be guilty.  Not sure exactly the reasons on some of MDC lakes.  The one I have used was no gas motors, another nearby was a smaller water supply lake and they had no issues with using a motor.

I doubt if MDC could tell you why the rules are this way at one lake and that way at another lake.

There's too much education and too little common sense in that organization.

As fishermen, what privileges have we lost?

The only one that comes to mind is being able to use felt soled boots, and although their reasoning is stupid and has no foundation at all.....at least they are telling us WHY.

Some "rules" make no sense whatsoever, and they should know that. So in those cases I think they should openly explain the justification for the rule.  If we all understood then maybe less rules would get broken.

It's real easy, you just post that "This lake is designated as a blah-blah-blah, therefore no outboard use is permitted".

Access points,  seasons, land use to name a few.  I am not able to give specific answers about when, where who, how etc.  I dont go out and dig on that.  I do know that I have talked to people about areas and visited some myself that were available and no longer are because people dont follow rules.

Are some rules goofy?  Sure.  But to openly violate a rule and post it online.  I don't recomend it.

Good points.  👍

I see it this way- "this lake is designated a 'No Gasoline Lake': therefore no gasoline engines are allowed" The rule is self explanatory and needs no expansion.

Sometimes the reason is found in regulations by a third  or fourth party that exerts some control over the water in question. Many MDC administrated or managed sites actually belong to some other agency or entity. USACE can claim control of almost any water they want too because the outflow will eventually end up in water they own.

Harbor Freight has 12V winches that will drag a dead car on to a trailer for less than two bills.  Question: why not mount an ATV winch on the bow and run it from the trolling battery?
