I really am befuddled how this team made it to the NLCS. The only thing I can think How this is possible is they were in the worst division in MLB. They wouldn’t have been in the playoffs if they were in any other division. A team with the 19th best batting crew shouldn’t make the playoffs but somehow they did.  Oddly enough The front office will see that winning the division and getting to the NLCS as a positive victory and they will stick with the status quo in the offseason and won’t go after any talent to make the team any better. That and along with several really bad contract extensions that have been given the past few seasons I don’t see the future being any brighter for a while.

Sadly, Waino might be done.  Not a good way to go out.

They looked at strikes and swung at balls.  They need to go up and swing aggressively the rest of the series.  They can do no worse.

We went to the game yesterday and it was painful watching those at bats. Scherzer is a monster though and I was afraid that was going to happen. I was hoping that the Cardinals could do some damage once the Nats went to their bullpen. It got better, wasn't enough. Waino did great and it stinks they couldn't help him out. Flaherty has had that happen to him plenty of times this year as well thanks to the bats going ice cold so often. Who knows, maybe they will snap out of it and win a couple on the road. It's such a gamble with this group.

I saw a stat right before post season started up that stated that there were only 3 teams without a single player having a OPS+ rating over 120. The Cardinals were one and the other two both lost over 100 games this season. It's crazy that the Cardinals were able to make it this far.

4 hits in 2 games doesn’t win championships.  Can’t blame pitching, can’t if you don’t score runs.

Totally agree Pete

I was reluctant to gloat because I remember so vividly when the Tigers swept the series before they played the cardinals....what, like 10 years ago or more? My buddy from Detroit told me that the Cardinals wouldn’t stand a chance. I’m sure you remember what happened.
