Members jfrith Posted December 17, 2019 Members Posted December 17, 2019 Hi all, Trying to find some affordable fishing sunglasses for my brother for Christmas. He’s somewhat of a fisherman and ventures out with me whenever I go, but I’d like to not have to hand him my costas everytime I point to something in the river. So, what’s everyone’s favorite pair of polarized sunglasses that is $60 or less?
Dutch Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I leave my Costas in the truck. I wear polarized glasses from Walmart in the boat because they have a little bifocal that helps when tying small jigs. They only cost me around $20.

MOPanfisher Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I tried the reading lens pair from Walmart and they definitely make knot tying easier. I currently use a walmart pair that are the "Tactical" ones in a grey box with an amber lens. Work great, cheap at $15 and when they get too scratched up, toss them away. I wear them much more than my Oakleys anymore.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I bought some on amazon for $15 that are actually pretty nice. My Maui Jim's stay in the truck. I had 5 or 6 pairs of prescription sunglasses but I had eye surgery a month and half ago and no longer need them. Maui Jim put the original non prescription lenses in my prescription pair for $75. Actually they just sent me a new pair for $75.

This is slightly off topic. I have thought about lasik surgery, but I always thought, I would still need readers. You don't use anything after your surgery? Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???

Went in 20/70 came out 20/20 or better. I had just crossed the line for my insurance to pay for cataract surgery. I had to wear sunglasses for a month because everything was so bright. Crazy! I didn't have to wear sunglasses it was just more comfortable to do so. liphunter 1

Both had cataract surgery with lens replacement and both still need readers. But they were both extremely happy with the improvement in vision. Not just ability to see but improved color vision. For what that's worth. On the polarized glasses there seems to be two schools of thought: (1) buy cheap ones, don't worry, replace often, or (b) buy nice ones, take good care of them and keep them a long time. I'm in camp (b). Had a pair of Smith's that were copper, photochromic, prescription and bifocal for many years. Loved those glasses and had them for probably 15 years before I finally lost them. Smith replaced the frames for me once when my dog chewed them up. I swapped out the lenses for a new prescription once too. Would have gotten another pair but I was gifted a pair of Ray Bans. Got prescription lenses in them. They're fine but the lens material is softer and scratches more easily, and the frames aren't as sturdy. Daryk Campbell Sr and liphunter 1 1 John

For what that's worth. I got the newest multi focal lens. Technis Symphony lens. Sounds like they got the Crytalens that improves your medium to long range vision but may still require readers. I paid up for the multi focal lens. shocking difference in my vision. I was living in candlelight is the best way to describe it. Now I live in brilliant sunshine! ness and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
