bferg Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 A lot of my friends in town who have product made in China are miserable right now. The supply chain is largely shut down and product isn’t being made. And there is no line of sight as to when it will start back up. I don’t have any first hand information about the tackle industry but have to imagine it is the same way. I wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing empty spots on the shelves at the tackle shops at some point this spring/summer.
duckydoty Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 I’m starting to run low on blanks I paint and have had 500 on order for 2 months. Nothing shipped during Chinese New Year and now the current situation does not have a near future resolution. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Could the virus survive in a shipment of fishing lures if made by someone infected?? Kind of a crazy thought.... Might explain the people infected in the US with no known source. Open a crank bait box and get the COVID 19.😬 Or anything made there really. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/number-of-coronavirus-cases-from-unknown-source-growing-in-us/ar-BB10ygJK?li=BBnb7Kz
snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Found this. https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/wellness/how-long-can-coronavirus-survive-on-surfaces/ar-BB10xkvI?li=BBnb7Kz Quillback 1
Quillback Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Went to Wally World early this AM, decided to grab some hand sanitizer while I was there. Shelves were about bare, maybe couple dozen left, probably be gone soon unless they restock. It's made in the USA, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a run on certain products.
Quillback Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Another thought - Aren't many of the reels/parts made in China or South Korea?
MOPanfisher Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Dang, the .22 ammo shortage was bad enough but a shortage of fishing tackle, that is bad. Good thing I he plenty and there are lots of folks who are pouring crappie jigs and jig heads. I suspect the lack of supply has more to do with workers being quarantined at hime and not working than fears of sending the virus in packages. But never under appreciate the ability of people to over react.
Mitch f Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 So this is the downside of going to China. I’m certainly not bashing doing that, but “made in America” is not just a slogan. When given a choice, consumers will always go for the cheaper product...their loyalty to AMERICAN made products go bye bye really quick. bferg, MOPanfisher and Jadesjigs 3 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
