Jon boats I had in the past didn't portage very well. The TM was just a thought, I don't canoe a lot anymore anyway, but I always go up a ways and then back so as to avoid all the shuttle nonsense.

I do the same.  I just hug the slow side and pull it up the riffles (as I fish them) if they are too fast to paddle or pole thru.

I've thought about rigging a TM (lower shaft only) straight off the rear for forward thrust, with a switch under the seat, and using a paddle to rudder one side or the other, to steer.   I still might engineer something like that someday.     I just don't like them hanging on one side.

Thought about doing the same but adding a steering option.

It was an online deal when I posted $99.99, I think- I slept since then,  but I imagine that is no longer true. Actually saw that referenced on another forum where the guy said he and friends had ordered twenty; someone there said they had missed a decimal or.... I've never had a trolling motor but have considered one for upstream trips in the canoe. Wrench suggested it wasn't appropriate and I believed him.

Glad some one got to take advantage of the sale. @Daryk Campbell Sr let us know if that deal went through or what happens?

So far it went through.   $107 and change.  Got an email confirming purchase, and processing.  Free delivery also.  I hope they honor this.

I once saw a video of a weed trimmer rigged as a motor at the stern for this type use, and that would probably be lighter to tote around and with a drop in yoke attachment easy to remove and stow in board.  I think an oarlock might work as a mount.

I think there's YouTube video on it.

I don't know about you and your canoe, but I would have a hard time spinning around in mine to prime and pull start a weedeater that was mounted behind me.

Link me that video, I wanna see how easily that dude pulls it off.
