Gavin Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Voted for Republican Presidential Candidates in every election other than 2016. Voted for the Libertarian in 2016, give it a try in 2020! I vote across the board mostly. My state rep is Deb Lavender(D) and she is great. Will never vote for my useless, corrupt, Congressman Lacy Clay, unfortunately Missouri’s 1st district is so gerrymandered that he can’t lose. nomolites and Terrierman 2
Mitch f Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Well let’s just say we will agree to disagree on this one. 1 hour ago, Terrierman said: That came from his days as Ca. Governor. I put him near the top of worst presidents ever. For a lot of reasons. Gun trader with Iran for one. Dealing to keep the hostages hostages until after the election for another, being a horoscope policy decider for another, war on drugs for yet another, debts don't matter for another one, tax cuts for the wealthy for another. I'm tired now and won't go on. Terrierman 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
fishinwrench Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 I'll argue politics for sport, but truthfully I don't "vote". Never have, not ever in my life. Have never even registered to vote. This sums up why...
Gavin Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 The truth about voting is that your vote is not statistically significant. How often does an election come down to a one vote difference, and all votes cast are probably a valid statistical sample of the people who are likely to vote.

I'll put up a sign for whoever I like the best, but I don't bother with the polling places. I'd rather just keep working, or take a long lunch break. My wife does though, she loves it, it's like a social gathering for her and the local gaggle of hens.
Gavin Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 What did two statisticians say to each other at their polling place? ..................”Don’t tell anyone you saw me here.” From “Freakenomics“ good read.
Mitch f Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Even though talking fishing Is boring as heck...I mean once located fish are pretty easy to catch, I’m going back to only talking talking about fish and food. Politics is a fruitless conversation. Nobody is ever going to change my mind, I I sure won’t change theirs. Back to boring and dopey fish conversations. nomolites 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
fishinwrench Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 I used to have a neighbor that was the most patriotic person I've ever known. Before the tornado ate my place I had a 60' flag pole and my neighbor was always up my posterior about flag etiquette (up, down, up, down, half staff, then back up....it was rather tiring to tell you the truth). So when my flag got all faded and torn I got a replacement, and old Earl said he'd take my old one to the VFW hall and "properly dispose of it". Well Earl forgot until about a month later and I had already pitched it. He about had a $#!t hemmorage. I took my posterior eating, but at the end of it I told him, "Earl I get it, I was a boy scout and all that, but listen....I wasn't granted that flag by the United States Coast Guard or anything like that.....I freakin' bought it at Wal-Mart !"

For an old guy, he handled himself far better by just waving at the press and pretending not to hear. He had poise and never um, seemed deranged, except for when he listened to Nancy’s horoscopes. He would never stoop to Twittering to attack and counterattack over his own insecurities. And did Reagan have this turnover in his own cabinet ? Trickle down, was that his? Deregulation, not all bad. Maybe went too far. Environmental policy, not good. I give him points for being a leader and a uniter with charisma, and with class he was a real president. Didn’t agree with most of his policies, but trying to throw Mitch the lemming a bone. It’s not always about party. Terrierman 1
