FishnDave Posted June 11, 2020 Author Posted June 11, 2020 11.5" bronze Goldfish from last night. Or, it could also possibly be a Crucian Carp or Prussian Carp? I dunno...I'll assume its a goldie. Johnsfolly and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Ham Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 I don't think it is a gold fish, but that's just me. The scales look too big and the mouth is wrong. Mystery Fish FishnDave 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Terrierman Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 Talk about big flathead bait! Those would be deluxe on throw lines. FishnDave 1

Mystery Fish You may be right. Keep in mind this fish is probably around 15 years old (+/- a couple years) and larger than they typically get in aquaria. The scales on the orange ones posted previously are fairly large too. And its in a pond with other big goldfish of various colors. Definitely not a Common Carp...Goldfish don't have barbels/whiskers. At this link are pictures of a "common goldfish" from a UK aquarist website...looks pretty similar: http://www.bristol-aquarists.org.uk/goldfish/common/common-fi2.htm (don't click the link that says "goldfish color chart"....I clicked it and my computer gave me a warning that there was a virus in that link) Whatever it is, its pretty fun to catch fish that I don't typically encounter when fishing. I think the previous bronze one I caught may have been a Prussian (Gibel) Carp, based on its scale patterns and such. I'd like to catch one that is white or mostly white...or with splotches of color. FishnDave Posted June 12, 2020 Author Posted June 12, 2020 Speaking of Flathead bait... After dinner I tried again. Same stuff again: Crappies, Green Sunfish, Bluegills, bass, hybrid sunfish. Another catfish. A really dark-colored Green Sunfish. And for the first time this year, a Black Bullhead! Quillback, Daryk Campbell Sr and Johnsfolly 3

I counted lateral line scales and there were 27. Looks like what I could find as Prussian carp. Would have liked to have seen those fins on your fish. So I'm hesitant to go all in on the P carp I'd. I did find that they have color variants that look like goldfish. It may be possible that all the ones you caught were prussian carp. I n my quick search I could not compare to large goldfish photos.

Nice fish especially that billhead! Over the last six months I have been cleaning up my fish lists and researching to have accurate accounts of species. Based upon location where I caught them and distribution maps,, the fish that I had down as black bullhead were likely brown bullhead. I dropped black bullhead from my list. So now they are a target species 🙄. Daryk Campbell Sr and Terrierman 2
