Bringing the family down to Bull Shoals this week. I’m pretty sure that I’ll have a couple afternoons free, and the daytime bite on Bull I’m sure is getting away from stuff that is easy for the kids.

With currently projected flows, is it an option I should entertain to bring a wife, 5, 13, and 14 year old boys over, and drop in a bass boat at Branson City Park. The wife likes to eat trout, and I’m looking for something easy for the 5 year old to do as far as fishing. We did it once a few years ago, and caught some stocker rainbows and had a fun afternoon.

Is it gonna be safe this week?

What baits and rigs do I need?

assume in your responses that I’m a total trout newbie, because I am-

thanks!

Easiest thing for you will to use some power bait or worms and either get behind the bass pro fish house or go up in turkey or Roark creek which are both close to scotties where you would launch. I would think some stocker rainbows will be looking to get out of the current and get in those creeks.  It's 100% safe to be here, enjoy it!

I have been trying to get my wife to fish for a while. She has seen me watching One Cast on TV a lot. So she said she would be willing to try that. And I don't know a thing about. The last time I fished for trout. The only thing I knew,  " Only the finest anglers Used Libby's corn. " brand of marshmallows was optional. lol Of course you have to remember. Back in those days we didn't have the information stream we do now. I thought I was killing it. lol

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)

I prefer the deep running Green Giant.

Hire Duane Doty, Don House or one of Phil's people for half a day. Money very well sent.

I talked about this on One Cast tonight... but I said throw Cleos or something like that from the Branson Landing down lake.  MDC just stocked and they are nice sized rainbows - and they like to chase.  Try going up in Roark Creek.  They like to get out of the current too.  Should be pretty good.

I’d love to, but with working in the concert business, we are trying to save a few cents here and there right now, because while we are ok at the moment, it’s gonna be a good long while until work is anywhere near normal.

What rig for the power bait and worms? Hook size? Weight? Bobber?

Drift from Scotty's down to the powerlines below the bridges. Stay in the middle near the ledge. You should get some fish. They really like to hang around those bridge pilings when the current is ripping. I always fish jigs, but drifting power bait should catch them just fine. Heavy spoons should work too.

We all hear you. Grand niece does stage lighting for the Tulsa ballet and other one off gigs. She hasn't worked a day since early March. Younger daughter fell victim to a widespread layoff at the national lighting and design firm where she worked.
