We’ve been waiting for a clothes washer for 3 months. A friend had an extra thankfully. No need for tackle or ammo. Always have plenty of that. Some restaurants  are doing pretty well. My lodging businesses are in the toilet though. Most are down 80% from normal. Probably safe to stay there, cuz Nobody has been there.

One of our local small businesses has put up a large (and in my opinion rude) sign up in front, "NO MASK, NO ENTRY!"  That's their right of course, but maybe someone should tape an additional note to it, "NO CUSTOMERS, NO INCOME!".  Just sayin'.

I understand that retailers are caught in a bad spot now and keeping inventory up with suppliers all disrupted is going to be impossible.  My wife and I are doing MUCH less shopping now because of the miserable experience of being herded in one door, out the other, masks, social distancing, etc.  I suspect that the legal departments of major retail corporations are responsible for much of that, afraid their companies will incur liability and get sued by "victims" if they fall behind the general rush to impose more and stricter rules for our "safety".

Only good thing is I've re-discovered eBay.  I've bought a couple of reels, a spinning rod, some jigs and hooks, and several items of clothing recently.  Most everything seems to be in good supply and service is still fast and efficient, maybe the smaller entrepreneurs there are gonna be the last bastion of capitalism, huh?

My daughter works retail and gets to deal with all of the vitriol from rude customers about the COVID restrictions. Small business' know that they are likely to lose some customers over signs like these. Being asked to wear a mask when in a store or to abide by the max number of customer rules should not warrant expletive outbursts or death threats IMHO.

Under these circumstances now is the time that small businesses and restaurants need our support more than ever. I'm willing to put up with the social distancing requirements to help keep some of these guys in business when this is over if ever.

We are all frustrated by the changes forced on us as we try to figure things out, BUT why in the world would someone take that out on people just trying to do their job. I'm Sorry your daughter is having to deal with any level of verbal abuse.

Absolutely, and I would never be rude to store employees either.  My wife and I have been ordering take-out meals weekly from two of our favorite small restaurants ever since this mess started - trying to help them stay in business.  My beef is with people in power who are using this pandemic to gain more power, acting on the premise of "never let a good crisis go to waste".  Small retailers, and maybe some big ones, are caught up in this just like us.

My folks were of the "greatest generation" that got through the Depression, WWII, and quite a few mutations of flu and cold viruses that were more lethal than this one.  I think if that generation were still in charge they wouldn't have shut the economy down nor put up with this nonsense for 2 minutes.  They would have isolated and protected the vulnerable sick and elderly and everything else would have carried on as normal.  Peoples' thinking has changed so much.

That's just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own of course.

The UPS guy stops at our house every day.  Got a couple of good fishing spots from him actually.  Using Amazon/WM.com more than ever.

From someone who works in retail:  it isn't just the legal department driving the masks.  I won't start a debate about the efficacy of masks but one thing is certain:  Some people 100% feel more safe when everyone is wearing a mask.  If you are a retail store- big or small- and some of your customers want people to be wearing masks in order to feel more safe... and some of your employees do as well... you almost have to require them.  Otherwise some employees and customers will stop showing up.
