That story I posted about the Felt winding up on top of me in the creek was at Busiek.  😎  Busiek is also the area that got me to give up riding bikes off road out of fear of broken bones and other similar problems.  Those shared horse trails that went straight up/down fall lines with 4 and 6 foot drops covered in rocks from apple to watermelon sized loose rock turned out to be just too much for this one, especially when I started having orthopedic repairs.  Good memories though, of a beautiful place and younger days!

I lived in Spokane at the time and my property backed up to the creek that flows from there through Busiek.  Walked and biked from the house to 65 and back many times.  Pretty valley it was and I'm sure still is.  Rugged country in the heart of the Ozarks.

Yeah - love that area.  Its been over 20 years since I was last at Busiek.  Chadwick was another place we used to ride, though it was pretty torn up by the motorcycles.  We rode from Chadwick to Busiek several times.  Also did a lot of night-time rides, usually while quite intoxicated.  Get all sweaty and then go sit in the creek.

I don't think I have ever seen a bicycle at Busiek. Me and the girls have hiked it many times and still do. It's a really cool place.

My office is only a couple of blocks from the old A&B building. And the wino/homeless are still jackasses. Screaming at people to give them a cigarette. Accusing you of lying that you don't have money for them (I don't carry cash). But I repay the favor by gluing quarters to the street from time to time. And before anyone says that's rude, we have done plenty for the ones that are respectful.

There's some more manageable single track West of 65.  Takes off at the shooting range.  See a lot more hikers than bikes though.

218 1/2 W. Walnut was a doorway between Bull's Trophy House and the bike shop that led up to the loft.  I remember one of the regular wino's name was Fireball.  He slept in our alley regularly and tried to break in regularly.  Will never forget him stumbling along the side walk late one night, we were up on the roof watching him, and he found a beer can that appeared to be partially full.  Without hesitation he took a long swig on it and immediately spit it out.  Was full of tobacco juice.🤣

We had a dude on our crew in Atlanta that was so strung out on crank that on some Mondays and Tuesdays he would walk around picking up and tasting tiny white rocks on the ground.....as if he thought dope just fell out of the sky everywhere.    One day I asked him if he had EVER found rock just laying in the street.   "Phuck yeeeeah boey, down by da bus station all da tiiiime".

Freakin' weirdo!   I wonder if that cat is still alive?   He was a worker though, that dude could get stuff done!

We are right behind Springfield Brewing Company. Those guys tossed some old hot outdated beer in the trash one day and it wasn't a couple of hours later there was a whole gang of losers out there digging it all out. They dropped a few bottles and busted it and then left their dog chained to the dumpster while they went to drink. Last I knew there were several people looking for them. People from SBC. Cops. Everyone. Haven't seen that particular group since.

We call those dudes “shneefers” up north.  More commonly known as a tweaker

Anyone ever watch letterkenny?    The tweeker dudes will drive you crazy.    I think it is hilarious but I grew up 12 miles south of the Canadian line
