jdmidwest Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Drifting the jet boat 2 summers ago, buddy in charge of boat was messing around with something and let my end drift into a sweeper. Rods were up high on the rails, one went over and the one i grabbed shattered in the tree. I was left with the one i was fishing with and a reel on a butt section. ollie Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I have never seen the need for an anchor while fishing on the creeks and rivers I do. Now a pond is different. Also remember any "leash" you have in that boat will tangle you up in swift current if you flip. Gavin Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Used to run an anchor...haven't in years. The fewer gizmo's the better IMO. Couple rods, cooler, 1 plano full of tackle. life jacket, 20' of rope. pliers, landing net, first aid kit. That's about it for a day trip. MNtransplant and Bass Yakker 2
Members ducky123 Posted August 28, 2020 Members Posted August 28, 2020 I've never fished from a kayak, but I would feel quite handicapped without an anchor in a canoe. Just anchor yanking and dropping I can stalk fishy spots with hardly a ripple.
Members LakinZ Posted May 19, 2023 Members Posted May 19, 2023 If you anchor your kayak in any kind of wind or current, you will want an anchor trolley for your kayak. I have purchased this YakGear Deluxe Anchor Trolley Kit. The pullies fit the inserts at both ends, but I had to drill out the holes in the pullies slightly to allow the screws to align. Be careful not to let the pully halves come apart. The two-hole cable guides require either drilling an additional hole in the hull or simply finding a pair of one-hole guides. Bass Yakker 1
