The lake owner is in for the money. They charge a lot to fish small sections of a lake or pond all for the opportunity to catch the same fish over and over again. Not saying that it wouldn't be fun to catch a giant fish. The mindset of pay to fish extends to even the smallest waters in the UK. Prevents guys like me that may not want to pay up to $40 per day from experiencing some good multispecies fishing in the creeks and ponds when across the pond.

I guess due to too many people for the resources?? I used to pay $20/day to fish a bass lake a farmer had. This would be 80’s and 90’s. It was a treat to fish a quality lake with many big fish.
