the fisherman may love the fish. The lake owner is in for the money. They charge a lot to fish small sections of a lake or pond all for the opportunity to catch the same fish over and over again. Not saying that it wouldn't  be fun to catch a giant fish. The mindset of pay to fish extends to even the smallest waters in the UK. Prevents guys like me that may not want to pay up to $40 per day from experiencing some good multispecies fishing in the creeks and ponds when across the pond.

I’ve heard but I’ve never been there.  I guess due to too many people for the resources??

I used to pay $20/day to fish a bass lake a farmer had.  This would be 80’s and 90’s.  It was a treat to fish a quality lake with many big fish.

Considering the upper class owned all the land, most waters are not public, we are blessed here with public lands, however hunting it seems is going the pay to play way
