gotmuddy Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 I would say gar are pretty smart, they evolved the ability to breath air and have gills. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

So stripers have to migrate further upstream than white bass when spawning. I don't see them literally becoming trapped when the water level recedes though. Even gar aren't stupid enough to let that happen. So did you read what I actually thought on my theory? I simply repeated what I read about them being trapped. gotmuddy Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 I would think the reason whites/hybrids dont run up the NFoW is due to water temp? Opinions? everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

They do run up, but prefer to take the turn up the Bryant for the most part. Less heavier flow would be my guess....but I don't know. White's don't really care for fast flowing water. Some flow is good, but a raging torrent they pretty much avoid.

Not familiar with that place, but I'd argue that they weren't "trapped". They may choose to stay because they've learned that another blast of water will soon be forthcoming. Makes more sense than backing off 50+ miles to wait. I bet they could get out of they wanted to.

I used to free a bunch of them. They just aren't as smart as you think they are. BilletHead and Ham 2

Gavin Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Stipers are definetly in the NFoW. Hooked a big one right below Kelly Ford a month ago. Saw several schools of striper in a few other spots on the way down to Sunburst. Schools of 10-30 fish. They are there for sure. Ham 1
