Well of course not. It's only asking for it....if Wrench does it. FML! 😅 Have you ever let your kids ride on the tailgate inside the park at 15mph? I bet you have and got nothing but friendly waves. Meanwhile they pounce on ME like a SWAT team. Wrench Lives Matter, twinkletoes ! No I haven't let my kids ride on a tailgate because my kids don't go very often and I don't have a tailgate. We have had the conversation before about drinking in the parks. I never knew before we discussed it that it was prohibited. It always seemed fine at the boat ramp on the lake and I didn't view that as being any different than the park. And the times that somebody could have corrected my actions they chose not to for whatever reason. You would have to ask them why. But maybe it was because I didn't act like a dick when they approached me.
fishinwrench Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 I've never acted like a dick to a badge wearer. Hell, I've never acted like a dick to ANYONE. I speak my mind, and inquire about things that don't make any sense if someone is going all authoritarian on me. If they choose to take that as "acting like a dick", then that's all on them. You act like I just sit around in public flipping off cops or something. I'm friendly as hell right up until the point where I am put into defense mode.

I can call Ronnie "@$$hole" and get away with it, but I ain't calling him TWINKLE TOES ! Daryk Campbell Sr 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 We’ve drank beer in Bennett SSP since the 60s and 70’s and never had an issue. Didn’t even know it was not allowed until about 12-15 years ago.

Did it for years until one day at the High bank hole a Ranger came whipping in there with an attitude and read us the riot act. Used to carry a flask and do the occasional warm-up shot during the Winter also. No more. I don't wanna have to feed a lawyers family for 6 months. The park float shuttles don't allow coolers with alcohol in the canoes either. You'd think that would kill their outfitter biz.

I haven’t been there since they put that new pipe that comes out below the main bridge however long ago that was. Bunch of dinks. No beer just adds to the heartache of a once great place. fishinwrench 1
Gavin Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 The no booze in the canoe is an easy dodge, stash a cooler and pick it up downriver. It’s not illegal in MO. Renting canoes can be a hassle in some places. Glad I rarely rent one. fishinwrench 1

I boycotted it for 5-6 years, but sometimes the river fishing just sucks balls. It's during those times that I like to go hit the park and practice techniques that I don't get to do very often elsewhere, like fishing drys, sight fishing, and swinging soft hackles. Get plenty of practice nymphing and fishing streamers in the river. snagged in outlet 3 1
Basfis Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Go to a picnic table. from BSSP website: Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on beaches, parking areas and off-road-vehicle areas in all state parks and historic sites. snagged in outlet 3 1
