Quillback Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 I have one of those indestructible Fortrex's myself, almost 9 years old and still kicking. If it ever dies I will definitely be looking at a spot lock TM and would also like to get brushless. Livescope will probably happen someday too for me, but not right away. Once fish get out more than about 30 feet deep, I lose interest in them unless they are on top, and I have fun fishing with what I have anyway. However I can see that if a guy is a serious tourney fisherman that you're going to be at a disadvantage without look ahead type sonar., especially in pre-tourney scouting. magicwormman and waterpossum 2

Especially napping! But until the Fortrex gives up the ghost, I think I'll make do with it. My next one will no doubt have spot lock, but I don't see myself ever stepping up to livescope. Video fishing is just not my cup of tea and to get set up right, you're looking at $10K or more. It's not worth it for me but can be worth its weight in gold to some of you deep-sea guys (Babler for sure). Later, guys. Headed to Beaver with a youngster from work and hope I can get him on some fish. Tried to send you a PM, I think your OA mailbox is full.
merc1997 Bo Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 fished out in the middle of the huricane today. here a real test of how good the spot lock is on the tour pro. put a buoy out and park right by it. bet i stayed within a foot of it. this is a great troller. bo Daryk Campbell Sr and dtrs5kprs 2

Got down here about 330 today and caught a nice LM just under 4 on crankbait and small K on swimbait. Going to try and get the shallow bite working tomorrow if not I will try and head deep with the livescope. Found lots of bait with some fish but hard to use the livescope in the wind this evening.
Members Willyh08 Posted December 28, 2020 Members Posted December 28, 2020 Is the new Motor Guide troller comparable with Lowrance ? I have Carbons but may upgrade to the Live in the near future.

Macsimus Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Bo, does the Tour Pro come with a remote? If yes, have you tried it and what do you think of it? "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."

Members Ken harv Posted January 14, 2022 Members Posted January 14, 2022 Hello I have bought a motor guide to a pro trolling motor probably about a year ago now. The trolling motor itself is perfect if you wanna spend $3000 on a trolling motor with no GPS or spot lock functions. Well come to find out there has been a recall on the board located in the unit to repair the spot lock functionality. For those of you who don’t know if you hit spot lock now without the repairs it will literally throw you out of the boat and go erratically out of control once you hit spot lock. I’ve been thrown from the boat twice thank God we had somebody else on the boat. It gets better than this. Yes there is a recall and yes motor guide has agreed to replace the faulty board……. Here’s the kicker I am in Arizona there are only two shops in the state that are approved one of the shops told me they don’t work on those trolling motors, the other shop has a 3 1/2 month wait to repair and is very unhelpful and seems not interested at all and taking warranty work on for motor guide. I have bought the extended warranty from bass pro to make sure that I was covered since I was spending over $3000 on a trolling motor and because there is a warranty bass pro and bass pro‘s warranty company will not honor this $3000 trolling motor for replacement as motor guide has excepted responsibility and put out a recall to fix this. The problem is you can’t get it fixed. Last year I try to make a warranty appointment with the one shop that’s available in the state and they told me don’t even worry about bringing it in because there’s no boards to repair the recall work. Although the trolling motor works well when you don’t use any of the functionality of the recall I would seriously consider buying any other brand of trolling motor based off the fact that if there is a recall repair or warranty work that needs to happen motor guide really does not want to make things right for the customer or get involved in any point to fix their recall work. Believe me I have over 15 calls with motor guide. Let’s a wrap it up if you’re looking for a gray trolling motor that you cannot use at 50 percent capacity and you would like to overspend on a trolling motor that is never capable of being repaired I would highly recommend motor guide. If you were thinking about buying one of these units please reach out to me on this forum I would happily talk to you over the phone to persuade you to something else grizwilson, waterpossum and bobby b. 2 1
Champ188 Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 MotorGuide + JohnnyMart = a customer service nightmare of which I want no part. Sorry you are having these problems and I hope that a quick resolution is on the horizon. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
