That's why I keep 12 Cain poles complete with bobber on my deck. And why we are discussing advanced technology. What's the deal with toilet paper. What a waste of money. If a free hand was good enough for ogg? It's good enough for me. I'm getting a headache. Think I will go drill a hole in my head and let the evil spirits out. lol Put the drill down! Slowly back away from the edge. You'll be ok. Get some minnows and go soak your cares away....😂
fshndoug Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 I think the little fish was looking for Wrench.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Interesting for sure, but is light required? The shadows seem to make me think so. fishinwrench Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 It's not my style, or cup of tea, either. But I can only tolerate getting my butt handed to me twice. There ain't gonna be a 3rd time. 😊

Think of the shadows as being the part the sonar can't see behind the fish because the beam goes out, bounces off the fish and bounces back to the transducer, so in essence it is a shadow, just from electromagnetic sonar waves and not from light. Because it is directional you should get a blank spot behind a suspended object (fish). With cone sonar the areas behind a suspended object are filled in .... but you can't assume the relationship between the suspended object and what is being displayed directly under it is accurate. It could be 5-10' off to the side, in reality. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

Al Agnew Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 It's an interesting question at what point do things like electronics change fishing too much and make it too easy. Somebody above said that you still have to get the fish to bite. True, but so what? You ALWAYS had to get them to bite, but first you had to find them. Now the finding is made so much easier. With this kind of sonar, underwater cameras, etc., you can find the fish, and actually see their reaction to your lure. And adjust accordingly. The only mystery left is in what adjustments will work. The big skill left to anglers in that case is how quickly they adjust. Yet, the whole question always has to be, at what point is it so easy and the technology so widely used that it has the likelihood of depressing the population of adult, catchable fish? I think it's something necessitates closer monitoring of fish populations and adjustment of regulations as needed, but not something that needs to be proactively outlawed. Other than that, it's gotta be a personal choice. My personal choice is that I neither need nor want something that technological, the way I like to fish.

I probably only have about 5-6 hours combined of actual time using it, and I can say without hesitation that the words "Game Changer" have been thrown around way too freely over the years..... Because THIS IS the REAL game changer. I've learned more useful information about LM bass, crappie, and Whites in those 5-6 hours than I've learned in the last 20 years. Right now, a guy with Livescope and a dropshot Senko can absolutely load the boat on a piece of bank that nobody would even dream of fishing. If you think that most of the biting fish are around points, dropoffs, and pieces of submerged brush, cover, ect. then you are really gonna get your eyes opened. The days of "pattern fishing" and sinking brushpiles are over. If your goal is to catch fish, and not sight-see and take long boat rides.....then the cost of fuel and tackle that you're gonna save will more than offset the price of Live Sonar in a very short time. I'm not too sure that it isn't going to hurt the fishing industry, because alot of the crap we've been spending money on for all these years, just really isn't needed. Diving crankbaits will likely be the first to go. What was the biggest thing that stood out to you? And I’m assuming you fished your regular local area?
