Reading a WA state game warden book and it mentioned the Olympic Mudminnow.  Neat looking little fish.  Another one for JF when he makes that west coast trip.

Olympic mudminnow - Wikipedia

We caught easten mud minnows last year. Would love to catch an Olympic and a central mud minnow. Hearing that mudminnows, banded sunfish,, etc., are much more nocturnal. I got a brighter headline for those night fishing trips.

That reminds me...I caught some Central Mudminnows years ago in northern Illinois.  I don't think I've ever put them on my lifelist.

I may tap you for a possible location if we head out that way this year.

Hey if it wasn't for @Quillback bringing up the Olympic mudminnow you still may not have heard about the central from Dave 😅

According to the Wikpedia article, the central can be found in NE Arkansas.

I sent @Johnsfolly a message about it.  I caught a few on one day probably over 25 years ago.   So long ago, I don't seem to have a picture of them.

It was a place I only fished once for an hour or two...and can't actually remember the exact location.   But, FishMap.org shows them being caught all around that area in northern Illinois, west/northwest Chicago suburbs...probably near Algonquin.  That's the best intel I can give. 😊

Lies All Lies

A single specimen was collected in Apr/May of 98/99 in Greene County. It was very close to a baitfish farm.
Prior to that one specimen was collected in 1894.

I would like better odds than that.

Looks like the best bet to catch one closest to MO or AR is in Illinois.
