magicwormman Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Timmy Hughes is amazing on the live scope! Unfortunately Timmy had a stroke recently. I understand that he is recovering, but has some issues with his speech. Please keep him in your prayers for a full recovery! For those that don't know him, he is a awesome lure painter and a contributor on this site. He is one of the finest men that I have the privilege to know! snagged in outlet 3, m&m, big c and 5 others 8

He's a better man than most of us will ever hope to be. Prayers for his recovery. vernon, magicwormman and m&m 3
bobby b. Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I did not know about Tim either - I was wondering why he did not PM be back?
Ryan Miloshewski Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Hit up Brian Ondrejka with Kansas Angling Experience. He can help with any Livescope questions. “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
bobby b. Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 To the guys above looking for help with the Live Scope setup given that Tim is down for a bit here is some advise (basically what I got from him) and then what I learned after. Look on line at some videos as to what you should be expecting to see - Phil L. had one a while back showing him crappie fishing on BS. The fish showed up really well on that video. go out on the water where you know there is a tree at a certain distance from the boat and adjust the gain up/down to see the tree clearly without all the garbage at the extreme noise at the end of the view. Some people like to see all that noise and look for the targets thru the noise - personally preference - I find this to be hard on the eyes - I find the correct gain setting to be in the 59 range at a depth of 20 - 30 ft. Lower the gain to see bottom targets better. set the distance setting to 30 - 40 ft. I try to use auto for the depth but sometimes it bounces around so I set it automatically. Throw a jig (i.e. 3/8 oz with swim bait) in the direction of the transducer and look for the returning lure on the screen - adjust the gain as needed. Experiment with the color selection - I like the green and the amber. Some are better than others in the sun. You can keep the transducer looking forward most of the time - when fishing really deep (i,e. 70ft ) I sometimes turn the transducer down but it is not really necessary. When fishing deep experiment with the TVG (Time Variable Gain), I use Low at 70 fow. The remainder of the settings can be at default, but after getting the above as you want it, experiment with noise cancelling, etc. I find it interesting to compare Livescope to 2D and DI. snagged in outlet 3, magicwormman and dtrs5kprs 3
